The amount of solar energy absorbed by the solar panels is reduced because of dust deposition or soiling over the PV panels, which can reduce the plant performance. The objective of this work is to study the impact of soiling and periodic cleaning on a rooftop Solar PV plant (industrial) and analyze the financial benefits of increasing the cleaning frequency of the PV panels. The case study revealed that the system performance of the plant increases up to 12% after cleaning based on location and cleaning frequency 3 per month.","PeriodicalId":211114,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Development in Renewable Energy Technology (ICDRET)","volume":"125 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114838297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is well-known that a steady DC-bus voltage is a key indicator to enhance the power-sharing in a DC microgrid. Hence, for maintaining a constant DC-bus voltage, it is essential to control the output voltage of different components of DC microgrids. To meet this control requirement, each microgrid component is interfaced to the DC-bus with a respective power electronic converter. In this paper, the proposed DC microgrid compromises with a solar photovoltaic (SPV) system, a battery, and DC loads. Hence, the SPV is interfaced with a DC-DC boost converter to match its output voltage with the DC-bus voltage. On the other hand, a DC-DC buck-boost converter is used with the battery to control its charging and discharging current. The controller is designed for all these components i.e., SPV and battery to control their corresponding output power while maintaining the DC-bus voltage at a constant value. Afterward, to prove the overall stability of the system with the designed control input, the Lyapunov theory is used. Finally, to validate the usefulness of the designed controller, a simulation study is conducted under different operating conditions and it compares with the existing controller to confirm its superiority.","PeriodicalId":211114,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Development in Renewable Energy Technology (ICDRET)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114171337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a World Health Organization (WHO) report, one for every three people does not have potable and safe drinking water. This study aims to solve to this long-standing problem by designing and developing a water purification system with self-sustaining power intended for low-income households in developing economies. The filtration device and method uses a five-stage filtration process that filters the harmful bacteria and removes any unpleasant odor and taste. A self-sustaining system harnesses the power of moving water, such as water flowing in a river using a hydroelectric turbine, to generate electricity stored in a battery to supply the entire machine's electric power requirement. This filtration device was designed for freshwater filtration.","PeriodicalId":211114,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Development in Renewable Energy Technology (ICDRET)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134475757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It's worth noting that, instead of the L filter, an LCL filter is employed to increase the injected power quality. The LCL filter, on the other hand, will generate a resonance problem. To deal with this, the proposed controller is built with the external disturbance factored into the mathematical model. Following that, the proposed approach is used to produce the control rule, and the overall stability of the system is ensured using the well-known Lyapunov theory. Finally, a simulation analysis is undertaken under various solar irradiance fluctuations to validate the utility of the proposal. To demonstrate the new controller's superiority, the performance of the proposed controller is compared to that of the present controller in terms of injected grid currents and total harmonic distortions (THDs).","PeriodicalId":211114,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Development in Renewable Energy Technology (ICDRET)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129145046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Efforts to reduce global warming led researchers to renewable energy, particularly in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. However, these systems face some disadvantages, such as the availability of land for installation due to the rapid population growth, and PV modules tend to heat up above ground, lowering their efficiency. To solve these problems, a floating solar power system is introduced to a local community at Jabonga, Agusan del Norte, Philippines. The study concentrates on the 3kW system design parameters and creates a prototype sample using a single 100W PV panel. Upon testing the prototype, the researchers concluded that the system is possible to implement in a community to address surging energy demand. Moreover, based on the results of the data gathered, the floating system generated an average power of 43.844 W while the land-based system has only 37.717 W. Thus, a single 100 W floating solar PV installation increases the generated power output to 6.127 W.","PeriodicalId":211114,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Development in Renewable Energy Technology (ICDRET)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125720965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The government-owned utility has a franchised monopoly over the transmission and distribution of electricity and owns a significant portion in the generation sector with encouragement for private participation on the generation side of the hydropower project. The power system in Nepal gets its maximum share of electrical power from its hydropower plants, and cross border power import from India to meet the generation deficit. Nepal's power system has an enormous potential to add up to its generation capacity, enhanced opportunities for earning export revenues, improve the power sector performance, and increase the electricity supply. India has a competitive wholesale electricity market, so to trade power with India, power producers in Nepal have to compete with the domestic market of India. Therefore, it is important to know the price it will receive if it wishes to trade energy with India. The research study emphasizes the electricity market in Nepal and envisages the possibilities to trade power in Indian electricity market platforms.","PeriodicalId":211114,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Development in Renewable Energy Technology (ICDRET)","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133148931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to its high chemical reactivity and optical absorption in the ultra-violet range, aluminum nanoparticles are not typically used in applications to improve solar cell performance, despite its attractive optical properties. Therefore, aluminum nanoparticles were coated with a thin silica shell layer that resulted in shifting the absorption properties of aluminum nanoparticles to longer wavelengths, and also aided in chemical isolation of the highly reactive aluminum nanoparticle core. The absorbing substrate of silicon thin-film solar cells were then modified with various sizes of aluminum nanoparticles with varied shell thicknesses that were placed on top of the silicon substrate and also embedded inside it. Furthermore, the nanoparticles were also placed in a “sandwich” configuration, with one particle on top of the substrate and another embedded inside it. The results showed that Al-silica core-shell nanoparticles in a “sandwich” configuration demonstrated the most improved opto-electronic performance of solar cells when compared to the other configurations studied. The results underline the feasibility of using aluminum-silica core-shell nanoparticles to significantly enhance the opto-electronic properties of thin-film solar cells.","PeriodicalId":211114,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Development in Renewable Energy Technology (ICDRET)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124269456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Besides having adequate renewable energy resources, necessary fossil fuel resources have also been deployed in the microgrid to create a reliable and sustainable system. The primary renewable energy resource explored is the solar PV system. The diesel-powered generators are integrated to support the system stability in high PV penetration scenarios. In such cases, energy storage options are also integrated to store excess electricity, provide sufficient autonomy, system stability and virtual inertia. Despite the higher initial cost, Li-ion based batteries and Hydrogen have received widespread acceptance as potential renewable energy storage technologies for coping with the variability nature of renewable energy resources. In this study, a microgrid is designed for a remote site in Bangladesh, and the system is optimized using seasonal load and real-time market data from Bangladesh. The results indicate that Hydrogen may be used as a long-term energy storage solution even in a developing country and thus, a diesel-PV-Hydrogen-battery microgrid has been found to be efficient and cost-effective for remote Bangladeshi communities.","PeriodicalId":211114,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Development in Renewable Energy Technology (ICDRET)","volume":"178 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114420587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
