During this entomological survey, we collected 798 mosquito larvae that were identified by morphology and by molecular tools. Out of these samples, eight taxa have been identified morphologically or molecularly in case of complex of species, belonging to five genera: Culex pipiens (49.1%, n=392), Culiseta annulata (16%, n=128), Culiseta longiareolata (13.1%, n=105), Anopheles claviger (11.5%, n=92), Aedes albopictus (5.5%, n=44), Anopheles maculipennis s.s. (2%, n=16), Culex theileri (0.7%, n=6), Uranotaenia unguiculata (1.8%, n=15). The noteworthy datum of this survey is the finding of Cx. theileri, a very common species in ponds and marshes in natural and rural environments, but never recorded before in Rome, and also the record of Ur. unguiculata, previously reported in Rome but never observed in this park. Caffarella Valley confirms its high degree of naturalness and high biodiversity in terms of mosquito species together to its particular location as a very popular urban park, completely surrounded by densely populated neighborhoods. Overall we identified 20 ant species belonging to 10 genera and 3 subfamilies. The ant communities of the two sites look significantly different in biogeographic terms, but their functional composition is similar. Moreover, we discovered that both ground and arboreal nesting species richness is positively correlated with the trunk circumference. In particular, arboreal-nesting species are limited to the deadwood richer medium and large trees. Some of the detected ant species may be useful to pest control strategies, and artificial nests may be considered to attract arboreal-nesting species in deadwood-poor trees. Very few studies concerning the composition of forest Lepidoptera have been carried out on thermophilous oaks, one of the forest types most intensively exploited by humans for timber and other forest products. In this paper we analysed a georeferenced dataset of macromoths collected in an oak-dominated landscape of southern Italy in order to describe moth communities and their functional relationships with forest cover. We found that moth communities inhabiting cork oak and riparian woodlots are the most functionally linked to the tree cover, mainly because of less fragmentation than other investigated forest types. Eupithecia dodoneata, Cyclophora puppillaria, and Catocala nymphagoga were the most abundant oak-feeders, the last two shared with other moth communities of thermophilous oaks sampled in Spain and Corsica. However, all of them were absent in studies carried out in Central Europe where more mesophilous oak woodlots were sampled and where some species found in Calabrian beech forests at high altitudes were abundant. Standardized studies are needed to clarify large-scale functional relationships between moth communities and a given forest type, allowing us to predict and mitigate the detrimental effects due to land use and climate change. The occurrence of Wrinkled Bark Beetle Rhysodes sulcatus Fabricius, 1787 (Coleoptera: Rhysodidae), a rare and threatened saproxylic beetle of primordial and old-growth forests in the Palearctic region, is reported for Montenegro. The species has a discontinuous and localized distribution in the Alpine region, and is included in Habitat Directive and in the risk categories of the IUCN red list for saproxylic beetles. Rhysodes sulcatus was found in the Biogradska Gora National Park, in the north-western part of the Bjelasica mountain range in the Dinaric Alps (Montenegro), during September 2021 while surveying the beetle fauna in a old-growth beech forests at about 1,084 m elevation.
