Here, we focus on maximizing the service time of FSO-based vertical wireless backhaul networks by considering practical constraints for wireless UAV communication, including limited energy and required data rates. To solve the optimization problem, we use a bisection method and sequential programming and introduce a new feasibility algorithm. Although we design suboptimal solutions due to the non-convexity of the problems, simulation indicates that the proposed schemes exhibit a gain of approximately 123.4% in terms of service-time when compared with the conventional scheme.","PeriodicalId":210825,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128782208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To relieve the pressure of spectrum shortage, 5G new radio (NR) V2X technology was proposed by aggregating both the LTE-V band and the NR band. In LTE-V and NR-V2X heterogeneous vehicle networks, how to manage various radio resources to satisfy different user's quality of service (QoS) is a challenging problem. To solve this problem, a QoS-guaranteed resource scheduling algorithm is proposed by considering basic safety services, advanced safety services and traffic efficiency services. Furthermore, a dynamic programming based resource scheduling algorithm is designed to improve the user's service experience and the spectrum efficiency by maximizing the system utility. System level simulation results verify that the proposed algorithms can enhance the user's experience effectively compared with conventional schemes, in terms of delay, throughput and packet loss ratio.","PeriodicalId":210825,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123170658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mobile devices were exploited as relays to help the operator forward data, which enhances the quality of the network services and expand the operator's business scope. However, the devices are selfish users and the bandwidth resources are scarcity and limited. To incent the devices working as relays, we built a novel auction game to maximize both the utilities of the operator and the relays, and make the maximum use of bandwidth resources. To derive the game equilibrium, we proposed a novel distributed dynamic iterative ascending algorithm where we first derive an optimal bandwidth allocation strategy for the operator based on the operator utility function and the relays' resource charging prices. Second, the optimal pricing strategy is obtained for each relay through deriving the game equilibrium. Finally, with the economic transactions, the selected relays complete the data transmission with the allocated bandwidth. Simulations demonstrate that the proposed auction game based non-equal bandwidth allocation strategy can significantly improve the operator's and the relays' utilities compared to traditional unchanged pricing strategies.","PeriodicalId":210825,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126414164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These specifications will be refined with new releases that will include enhancements to cellular vehicular to everything (C-V2X), first introduced in LTE in Release 14, as well as the integration of unmanned aerial systems (UASs). This paper proposes a city-scale R&D platform enabling advanced mobile communications and computing experiments with 5G technology and UASs. The large-scale testbed is proposed by an academic-industry consortium to serve the needs of researchers, developers, practitioners, regulators, and educators, among others. We present the unique aspects of this platform, its architecture and user services, for enabling experiments in controlled, yet production-like environments. Sample research projects, including 5G security and distributed wireless and computing resource management, indicate the broad R&D scope and the impact that such platform can have on technology evolution, regulation, standardization and new computing and communications services.","PeriodicalId":210825,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126537795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Energy harvesting comes from sources such as solar radiation, ambient RF, wind, rain, or vibrations. RF energy can be harvested in the dark, or when no solar energy is available. RF is readily available, consistent, and reliable compared with energy harvesting from other sources. One major disadvantage of RF energy harvesting is the relatively low density of ambient RF energy in most locations. The goal of this work was to enhance the RF harvested power level by introducing a simple design and a small size. The proposed system included two circuits. Each circuit consisted of an RF power source, L matching element, and a single- stage voltage multiplier. The two circuits were connected in parallel via the filter and the resistor load. The ADS simulation tool was utilized to simulate the proposed design for the applied low input power range of -50dBm to 5dBm at 900 MHz. The load values were varied between 1K and 12K to determine the suitable load which achieved the optimum performance. Results showed that 3.11 mW as the top harvested power for the input power of 5dBm and output voltage of 3.5 V at the optimum load of 4 K . The maximum efficiency accomplished by the proposed system was 57%.","PeriodicalId":210825,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116658105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the utmost challenge is how to support a wide variety of services efficiently in face of communication and computation constraints. Therefore, a service-driven collaborative mobile edge computing model is proposed to support the computation- intensive and latency-critical services for UAV swarm. In terms of different service requirements, UAVs are divided into two categories, including the cloud service support (CSS) UAVs, and the local service support (LSS) UAVs. For CSS UAVs, the enhanced collaborative computing model is designed and the closed-form solution of the decision threshold is also achieved by using queueing theory. Furthermore, in terms of LSS UAVs, the system status update algorithm is proposed based on the age of information in collaboration with CSS UAVs and the control center. In contrast to the typical UAV network with MEC servers, simulation results verify that our proposed model and algorithm can significantly improve the timeliness of information transmission.","PeriodicalId":210825,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114028090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, when concerning traffic prediction in the context of big data, traditional deep learning models only have limited memory lengths and thus do not satisfy high prediction accuracy demand. In this paper, we design a new deep learningbased framework, which is built on our proposed novel spatialtemporal attention mechanism, to further increase the prediction accuracy of cellular traffic resource. Specifically, we firstly design a big data hierarchical architecture with four levels to extract meaningful information. Then, considering that cellular traffic resource from base stations characterizes spatial-temporal dependencies, we integrate conventional temporal attention mechanism for target area with that from spatial neighbor areas, proposing a novel spatial-temporal attention mechanism. Finally, we utilize this spatial-temporal attention mechanism based LSTM (STaLSTMs) to predict cellular traffic resource from base stations. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed framework has better performances in cellular traffic prediction than other competing models. Importantly, in some application scenarios, this framework can also maintain high accuracy but only with 60% data.","PeriodicalId":210825,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131537679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, IVC by cellular V2X (LTE support for V2X services) has attracted much attention, which includes two schemes: sidelink by which vehicles communicate directly with each other and broadcast via eNodeB for dissemination to farther vehicles. In this paper, we will show that none of these methods alone can fulfill the reliable and low delay communication, and investigate a basic method that combines DSRC for fast dissemination in a short distance and cellular V2X (broadcast via eNodeB) for reliable dissemination in a wide range. We notice that vehicles near the same event (e.g., falling object) may repeatedly disseminate the same message and some messages may be disseminated beyond their required range, which degrade network performance. Therefore, we further improve the efficiency of the basic method from two aspects: (i) dissemination range control that constrains the dissemination of each message within its required range, and (ii) duplicate dissemination control that avoids disseminating the message containing the same information in the network. Simulations on network simulator with LTE release-14 confirm that the method combining DSRC and cellular V2X reduces the delay by up to 66% compared to the method using only cellular V2X, and the extended method further improves the reachability by up to 15%.","PeriodicalId":210825,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131765064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this system, a novel limited feedback method for transmit precoding is proposed. The key idea of the proposed feedback method is to use a coding theoretical approach. By converting the MU-MIMO system into the equivalent parallel binary symmetry channels, a receiver constructs multiple precodedchannel- dependent codebooks using both the estimated channel from pilot transmissions and predefined precoding matrices. Then, it sends back the index of the best precoding matrix that maximizes a lower bound of the correct detection probability, which is proportional to the maximum of minimum Hamming distances of the codebooks. One interesting observation is that the proposed method provides a significant gain in terms of bit-error-rates compared to open-loop transmission, even with a few bits feedback under certain antenna configurations.","PeriodicalId":210825,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126988852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
