This approach is particularly suitable for distribution networks, as the polarization diversity function is shifted to the transmitter, thus resulting in a simpler and cheaper heterodyne receiver. A transmission experiment, making use of a 1.55 mu m DFB (distributed feedback) laser diode, directly FSK modulated at 155 Mb/s, a properly developed high-speed polarization modulator, and single filter heterodyne detection, has been successfully carried out. The penalty resulting from preliminary bit-error-rate measurements ranges from 4 to 6.5 dB, including the 3 dB intrinsic loss common to all polarization spreading techniques.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":210489,"journal":{"name":"ICC 91 International Conference on Communications Conference Record","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123053647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a candidate for a multimedia element in multimedia space, VDA is also proposed in order to edit video information. The time-domain structure and the scenery structure for it are introduced. The first is a PLL-type desynchronizer obtained through an appropriate modification of a previously proposed scheme. The second avoids the generation of the random noise required in PLL-type desynchronizers. Using a design example, it is shown that this simple technique achieves good jitter performance in the normal mode of operation of the network, and that it can cope with large frequency offsets when the network is in degraded mode due to a loss of synchronism in one of its nodes.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":210489,"journal":{"name":"ICC 91 International Conference on Communications Conference Record","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122204225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They identify the factors that are expected to fuel the rapid growth in demand for wideband (i.e., DS1 and fractional DS1 (FDS1) rates) services, including standards activities and end user applications. The need for large-scale deployment of a real-time circuit-switched network service at wideband rates up to DS1 is emphasized here. The authors discuss the past limitations of switched networks in connection with providing dialable wideband services, the application drivers for wideband services, and the opportunity for the carriers to provide a standard network service. They also identify the value of the wideband service as a bridge to future broadband services.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":210489,"journal":{"name":"ICC 91 International Conference on Communications Conference Record","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128262751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
