Bridging the nations together, translated documents play a significant role for maintaining correspondence between the related parties. The use of authentic materials in the teaching of English translation has been considered a way to narrow the gaps between theory and practice in training English translators. By applying qualitative and quantitative method through surveying 31 translation course learners, the paper focuses on investigating the perspectives from the learners of Translation courses on the benefits of authentic materials in learning translation. The findings show that the use of authentic material in translation teaching has great impacts on students’ learning motivation, employability, and students’ competence of solving translation related real-work problems.","PeriodicalId":209885,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2021 6th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126388108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data were collected via an online survey to 226 students from various majors who had at least one-year exposure to flipped learning. The results of the study reveal that the majority of the students had positive perceptions towards the utilization of flipped learning in the courses at the institution. Specifically, most of them reported that flipped learning promotes their motivation to learn and improves the learning effectiveness. Also, they expressed their satisfaction with their lecturers in the flipped learning courses. Regarding students’ feedback, most of them admitted that they were very engaged during the lesson. However, there are several complaints concerning students’ insufficient preparation in the pre-lesson phase leading to the lack of time for active learning activities.","PeriodicalId":209885,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2021 6th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128877372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relevance of studying this theoretical framework arises from the assumption that digitally mediated learning dan teaching can provide a useful alternative to address the problems of the lack of teachers that have been facing by many remote communities in the border areas. Using literature review and secondary sources, the paper argues that the SOEs’ investment in ICT learning and teaching is imperative. However, the appropriateness and effectiveness of its method and substance that will lead to a meaningful realization of SDG4 will be very much dependent on: 1) the State's and SOEs’ knowledge about the connection between human rights and SDGs; 2) clear educational objectives, conducive pedagogical environment, dynamic learning and teaching processes and responsive educational governance suitable for digitally mediated education system; and 3) the capability of SOEs engaged in ICT to use SDG4 as an overarching framework to shape, steer, communicate and report their strategies, goals and activities when they invest in digitally mediated education system.","PeriodicalId":209885,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2021 6th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123276552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that some forms of distance learning: independent work of students, creative projects, interactive lectures, solving situational problems, formative assessment are themselves significant motives for educational activities. Information technologies that we use for distance learning allow us to quickly establish feedback between students and teachers, take into account individual and personal characteristics of students, their abilities, speed of work, and interests. Distance learning encourages self-knowledge, disclosure of their needs and capabilities, and development of existing potential. The main motives of students to study in the discipline \"life Safety\" are considered, which include the motives of personal development and the practical significance of the acquired knowledge and skills. Motives based on the desire to communicate, exchange information and emotional experiences are activated and can significantly affect the results of the educational process when combining distance and classroom forms of training organization. The combination of distance and classroom classes allows you to motivate students to learn as much as possible, makes it possible to maintain a rich emotional communication between students and the teacher, students with each other; activate independent work of students, creative initiatives, and develop practical skills of safe behavior","PeriodicalId":209885,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2021 6th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124087678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
