These are the parasites of both domestic and wild birdsusually all over the world.The order Phthiraptera (Amblycera and Ischnocera) divided into two notceable groups on the basis of their feeding habits, the chewing lice (Mallophaga) and the sucking lice (Anoplura). Chewing lice are the most important group with more than 3000 species identified and always causes great pathogenecity to its hosts. The chewing Lice (Order: Phthiraptera) wrapof three suborders, Amblycera, Ischnocera and Rhynchophthirina. The ectoparasites have great veterinary importance their taxonomival work which is reasonably priced in Pakistan as well as all over theworld.The chewing louse Goniodes dissimilis Denny, 1842 (Ischnocera: Philopteridae) is usually found on fowls (Galliformes: Phasianidae) which includes practically Common pea fowl Pavocristatus Linnaeus, 1758,Domestic fowl Gallus gallus domesticus (Linnaeus, 1758) and Turkey fowl Meleagris gallopavo (Linnaeus, 1958). The louse is small size brownish yellow pigmented slow moving philopteridand most of the time was attached to furryandglossy feathers of hosts belly or abdomin. It causes aggravation, annoyance, irritationand nervousness in behaviors of hosts. This wasfirst reported as new hosts and new locality records from the study area. For this, the total of 1122 fecal samples were obtained. These samples were processed by using the direct smear method and formal ether sedimentations concentration. Differences were noted in overall incidence of protozoans and helminthic infections in boys and girls as well as age differences were encountered. The results showed that an overall incidence of protozoans 25.56% in younger boys and 15.3 % in younger girls, while overall of incidents of helminths was 12.35% in boys and 7.3% in younger girls. The pathogenic protozoa Giardia lamblia was more prevalent than amoebiasis while Ascaris lumbricoides was most common round worm prevalent. Such a survey first of its kind in district Multan draws the attentions of parents and scientific community to safeguard the health of children.","PeriodicalId":20855,"journal":{"name":"Pure and Applied Biology","volume":"27 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91501655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
