Methodology: This cross-sectional study with purposive sampling technique was conducted in primary healthcare centers in Malang and included 166 participants. Patients aged above 60 years, diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis with Kellgren-Lawrence grade 1-2, had symptoms of depression/mild depression (based on medical diagnosis), did not have severe visual disturbances; did not have neurological problems and did not consume any antidepressants were included in the study. We used Geriatric Depression Scale, Barthel Index, and Single Leg Standing test. All the data were analyzed using the Independent T-test and Pearson Correlation. Results: Depression negatively correlated with balance ability (p<0.05; r1=-0.25). Ability to do daily activities was positively correlated with balance ability (p<0.05; r = 0.55). Conclusion: It is urged to focus on maintaining and promoting knee osteoarthritis patients’ psychological health and recommend it to be included in the policy of geriatric health management. This will minimize the occurrence of potentially harmful secondary effects and gain an optimal quality of life for the elderly.","PeriodicalId":20844,"journal":{"name":"Rawal Medical Journal","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135709648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: In this study, data were collected from December 2022 and March 2023 at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Al-Elwiya Maternity Teaching Hospital from 31 pregnant women with PE. We had 31 pregnant women in the control group who were healthy. Age, gestational age, BMI, and renal function tests are performed. Results: There was no difference in age, and gestational age (weeks), between PE women and the control group. Serum total bilirubin, creatinine, and urea levels were all considerably higher in PE than in the control group. There were no statistically significant differences in serum albumin and total protein levels, although the SBP and DBP from PE patients were significantly higher than those of the control group. Conclusion: Pregnant women should be evaluated because elevated serum levels of total bilirubin, creatinine, and urea may signal the onset of preeclampsia. The best biochemical test for diagnosing preeclampsia was serum creatinine level.","PeriodicalId":20844,"journal":{"name":"Rawal Medical Journal","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135709650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: The study was single-center, cross-sectional, and comprised 90 successive patients who were hospitalized with MPE. Results: Out of 90 patients, 60% were females and the age group 46-55 years formed the highest percentage (33.3%). We found that 97.8% had pre-existing malignancy, mainly breast cancer and 85.5% suffered non-specific generalized symptoms related to the primary malignancy. All the cases presented with shortness of breath, cough, and chest pain, and only 3.3% were asymptomatic. Pleurodesis was done in 84 patients and in the majority of them (86.7%) bleomycin was used. The majority of the pleural fluid aspirates were exudate according to Light criteria. 40% patients improved during hospitalization. Better improvement was observed among unilateral, and small MPE. Less than one-third of the cases had recurrent effusion, which was mostly in those with bilateral and secondary MPE. The survival rate was relatively good (82%). Around 6% cases were referred to oncologists. Conclusion: Although the therapeutic approaches of MPE were mostly palliative not curative, a substantial improvement in outcome after the management of MPE was noted. Parameters that predict favorable short-term outcomes are unilateral and small pleural effusions.","PeriodicalId":20844,"journal":{"name":"Rawal Medical Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70840190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Out of 53 patients, 88.7% were males and most (67.9%) were 60 years old or more. 75.5 of patients were smokers, 50.9%, 39.6%, 22.6%, 28.3% had diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and respiratory failure, respectively. There was a significant association between embolectomy, actylase anticoagulant, death and amputation. 84.6% of patients with embolectomy had amputation while 80% who took actylase anticoagulant had no amputation. Conclusion: In covid-19 related ALI, amputation was common in embolectomy patients while it was rare in patients who received actylase.
