Due to different research perspectives, scholars from various countries have not yet reached a unified consensus on the definition, characteristic, function, and classification of discourse markers. At present, there are three main theoretical frameworks for studying discourse markers: coherence theory, relevance theory and adaptation theory. The research on discourse markers in China didn't flourish until the 21st century. There is still a lot of room for further research in this field. For example, the localization of research theory, the multi-dimensional research perspective, and the interdisciplinary research content are gradually attracting the attention of scholars.","PeriodicalId":208135,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Language, Communication and Culture Studies (ICLCCS 2021)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116308610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the settings of New England, his poems that are fraught with idyllic scenery and his laboring experience are expressed through a comparatively traditional prosody. His unique writing technique and characteristic enable him to win more diversified audience since whether they are literary experts or demotic readers, they are capable to interpret the poems from dual perspectives of opaque modernism as well as a relatively more intelligible Victorian writing style. Upon this foundation, this article aims to discuss how this great luminary manages to organically amalgamate traditional form with modern ethos. In order to reach this purpose, the author will analyze the rhetorical device and connotation of some masterpieces of Frost, e.g., “Birches”, “The Road Not Taken”, “Fire and Ice”, etc. to investigate the duality of tradition and modernism.","PeriodicalId":208135,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Language, Communication and Culture Studies (ICLCCS 2021)","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130083130","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is necessary to make full use of the characteristics of big data technology in the collection and integration of information and other aspects to build a new three-dimensional teaching model in order to effectively promote the reform and development of college English teaching. However, in the current era of big data, China's college English teaching model is relatively backward, which has a great impact on the actual teaching level and efficiency. Therefore, teachers need to continuously optimize and innovate the current teaching model when teaching, so as to contribute to the significant improvement of teaching effectiveness. In response to this situation, this article elaborates and studies the meaning of big data, the status quo of the problems faced by college English teaching in the era of big data, as well as the corresponding reform measures, hoping to provide some referential opinions for relevant teachers.","PeriodicalId":208135,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Language, Communication and Culture Studies (ICLCCS 2021)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121336273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the perspectives of translation sociology and particularly of the French sociologist Bourdieu's capital theory, which involves economic capital, cultural capital, symbolic capital and social capital, this article analyzes the process of globalization of one of the earliest overseas-published Chinese online literature Coiling Dragon , in order to explain the success of it in terms of capital flow in the transcultural dissemination of translated Chinese texts. With the sociological analysis of the translated Coiling Dragon , it is concluded that the successful globalization of Coiling Dragon is closely related to the author, the translator, the publishing agency, and the governmental policy. These factors, together with the play of economic capital, cultural capital, symbolic capital and social capital, establish Coiling Dragon 's ranking at the top five in the fantasy section of Wuxiaworld, and is evaluated as 'overwhelmingly recommended' among overseas readers. This article tries to map out the dynamic relationships among these factors and demonstrate that the cultural capital and symbolic capital the original author holds and the cultural, economic and social capital the translator holds help Coiling Dragon successfully go global.","PeriodicalId":208135,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Language, Communication and Culture Studies (ICLCCS 2021)","volume":"77 12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127183861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At present, it is a trend that many English teachers in colleges and universities choose to use English learning websites or apps to assist their daily teaching, which shows a great development in higher education, especially in the aspect of improving students' autonomous learning. Convenient as it is, it also brings a lot of problems, of which \"no motivation\" has already become into the \"bottleneck\" of autonomous English learning, and at the same time, learning motivation seems to be a very important factor in promoting autonomous English learning. This article, based on the detailed investigation and interview, mainly analyzes the status quo and problems of college students' English learning and then proposes some solutions to the existing problems, therefore to enhance both teaching and learning efficiencies by fostering college students' learner autonomy.","PeriodicalId":208135,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Language, Communication and Culture Studies (ICLCCS 2021)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122614684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When examining the degree of sophistication of humour, its openness in relation to its recipients, we were interested in how often the articulations refer to universal, international, or pop culture phenomena, and to phenomena whose interpretation requires a specific Slovak linguistic and cultural competence. With the intention of comparing quantity, we created a narrower corpus of texts published on the Zomri community page in 2019 and observed the approximate proportion of use of both universal precedent (global) and national precedent (Slovak) phenomena and the ways of creating the comic effect associated with their use. We have come to the conclusion that authors of Slovak memetic texts turn to universal precedent phenomena more often than to national ones, and that the main ways of comic creation in the analysed memes were the so-called ‘effect of deceived expectation and the unpredictability of the transformation and subsequent re-semantization of the verbal or visual component of the meme’.","PeriodicalId":208135,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Language, Communication and Culture Studies (ICLCCS 2021)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130347370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
