Thus, dental prenatal care is very important, as it reduces the risks to the woman’s and the baby’s life, such as preventing the child from being born with low weight or even reducing the mortality rate, as they can be caused due to periodontal disease Furthermore, according to the revised literature, during pregnancy, the mother is more open to receiving information about health, which makes it easier to embrace the information and put it into practice, making dental care demystified. It is also necessary for the dental surgeon to seek more knowledge to safely perform the care, reducing popular myths and beliefs about dental care during this specific period for women. This review aims to show the importance of prenatal dental care and demystify the opinion of the general public about care during pregnancy, clarifying dentists and pregnant women about the procedures that can be performed safely during this period.. The work is a literature review, using scientific articles through the platforms Ministry of Health, Scielo, Medline, Lilacs via BVS, and the book “Medical Therapy in Dentistry”, by Eduardo Dias de Andrade. Through the information obtained in the research, it is concluded that it is possible to carry out dental care during pregnancy.
