Willliam Say published the Liber Regie Capelle for the Chapel Royal at the fifteenth century. The Liber Regie Capelle includes transcription of the text \"De Exequiis Regalibus\". Yerokhin","doi":"10.15829/2686-973x-2022-117","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15829/2686-973x-2022-117","url":null,"abstract":"The article deals with the appearance in the context of the development of the English Reformation in the middle of the 16th century of supporters of the further reformation of the Church of England following the example of the European continental reformed churches and the conceptual understanding of the views and practices characteristic of the supporters of the continuation of the Reformation in the country, by contemporaries and subsequent researchers. It is analyzed how, conceptually, descriptively and conceptually, the views and characteristic features of the activities of the supporters of the continuation of the Reformation were fixed, and it is shown under what circumstances the terminological designations of the supporters of the further Reformation by their opponents began to appear and how these more radical reformers called themselves. The emergence of the concept of \"Puritanism\" and the theological views, doctrinal and ritual practices characteristic of the Puritans are considered. The difficulties with the definition of the concept of \"Puritanism\" and discussions among researchers in determining the relationship between Puritans, supporters of the Church of England, and Separatists are shown. A review and analysis of opinions on the question of the interpretation and definition of Puritanism in modern historical science is presented, demonstrating the semantic components and aspects of the concept of \"Puritanism\" in the entire spectrum of its meanings. The continuing diversity of opinions and the lack of a single generally accepted definition of Puritanism, according to the author, still exists due to the complexity of this phenomenon. For further work in the interpretation of Puritanism, the author considers the contextual-operational approach heuristically productive, which is currently taking shape in the practice of concrete historical research on this problem.","PeriodicalId":207221,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Church History","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114923550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The question about his confessional orientation is not clear now. There are saved a few manuscripts with his writings in syriac (the date of the earliest is 837), as well as in arabic (one manuscript of 1492) and georgian translations (a few manuscripts, the date of the earliest is 925). Analysis of the manuscript tradition of his writings permited to establish that the literary tradition, on which drew the writer and which was the base of his ascetical teaching, became essential factor of reception of his writings by orthodox in the most extent, while the other confessions saved only small fragments of these. The determination of causes of the popularity of the writings of Martyrius-Sahdona in several confessions is contribution in solution of the question of his confession, which is unclarified aspect of the biography of this church doer and representant of the East Syrian ascetic literature.","PeriodicalId":207221,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Church History","volume":"66 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126395442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The unrelenting interest in Father John requires the study and history of the Sura St. John the Theologian Convent. Numerous studies dedicated to the saint practically do not affect the history of the Sura monastery. An analysis of the features of the formation and development of the Sura Monastery contributes to the study of female monasticism and monastic construction in the Russian North. The revival of the monastery today implies close attention to its history. The article, written with the involvement of a large array of unpublished materials, creates a general picture of monastic life. The circumstances and reasons for the founding are indicated, the architectural ensemble of the Sura Monastery is presented. An assessment of the economic activity of the monastery is given. The circumstances of the emergence of farmsteads in Arkhangelsk and St. Petersburg and the monastery skete in Letovskaya Grove are briefly outlined. The often hidden and least explored inner life of the monastery is touched upon. Relations with the world are presented with an emphasis on the social service of the monastery.","PeriodicalId":207221,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Church History","volume":"10875 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128742895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
