Segmentation of teeth from dental radiograph images is a crucial step for achieving automated forensic identification. Segmentation of teeth helps a dentist to diagnose the teeth problems and understand the structure of the teeth. The dental segmentation work we discuss in the paper is based on Otsu's thresholding and connected component analysis. Initially we input a radiograph image of teeth. Preprocessing is done using the smoothening filter to remove the noise or the corrupted pixels in the dental image. We perform dental segmentation in periapical dental images. We preprocess the image for noise removal and enhancement is done using CLAHE. Finally, Segmentation is done by Otsu's thresholding and the connected component are identified to extract the ROI of the teeth is segmented.","PeriodicalId":206653,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Third International Conference on Advanced Informatics for Computing Research - ICAICR '19","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133184358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

High level of sugar in blood and urine leads to diabetes which damages the kidneys, eyes, nerves, blood vessels, heart with potential risk of life threat if not cured in time. Diabetes can be prevented with physical exercises, work out, and healthy diet. Diabetes can also be cured if detected in early stages. However, in today's busy life people tend to ignore physical activity and take unhealthy food causing high glucose level in blood. Patients are generally diagnosed with diabetes in late stages due to which it becomes challenging to cure the disease. To prevent and detect the diabetes in early stages, a solution is needed which can integrated with user's day-to-day life and can continuously monitor their diet/fold and physical activities. In this paper, we are proposing cloud-based recommender system/engine which will further integrate with user's smartphone and wearable devices to prevent diabetes by recommending healthy lifestyle and diet to diabetic patients.","PeriodicalId":206653,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Third International Conference on Advanced Informatics for Computing Research - ICAICR '19","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123959212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
