Methods: This observational study was carried out in (blinded). It included 200 women who had preliminary diagnosis of adnexal mass whatever its nature. Adnexal masses were detected either clinically or by ultrasound. Results: The study shows distribution of different pathologies of malignancy, stage of malignancy at diagnosis and benign spectrum in investigated population. The study also reveals CA-125 cutoff point 35.1 and sensitivity and specificity reached 93.1% and 92.2% respectively. Area under the Curve (AUC) was 0.998, Positive Prediction Value (PPV) was 91.7% and Negative Prediction Value (NPV) was 92.1. Conclusion: According to our results CA-125 could be suitable as an ovarian cancer detection marker.","PeriodicalId":206072,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Gynecology and Obstetrics","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124467209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SARS-CoV-2 infection ranges in severity from common cold to acute respiratory distress syndrome. With the incredible increase in numbers of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), multiple studies were done with the significant increase of COVID-19 infected pregnant women. These studies support that pregnant women are not only susceptible to infection but more liable for severity and complications that may end unfortunately by death. Methods: In this review, we discuss the mode and steps of delivery in that situation. There is an argument about fetal transmission, possible methods of transmission, and recorded fetal complications. Breastfeeding is not a source of infection. The separation between the infected mother and her baby is under debate regarding many considerations taken.","PeriodicalId":206072,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Gynecology and Obstetrics","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123220657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: A randomized controlled study (Clinical Trials.Gov: NCT02717676) included multiparous women with singleton full-term pregnancy. SG score was assessed according to Atwal score at four body sites (Abdomen, breast, buttocks, hips). Women with total score >12 were randomized to Group (A): episiotomy was done after crowning of the fetal head during the second stage of labour and Group (B): no episiotomy was done. The primary outcome was the rate of third and fourth degree perineal tears. Results: Two-hundred fifty women were included in the study (125 in each arm). The overall incidence of PT was significantly high in group (B) than group (A) (90.4% Vs. 23.5%respectively, p < 0.001). In addition, the incidence of third and fourth-degree perineal tears was significantly higher in group (B) (15% Vs. 3.3%, p = 0001). Similarly, the incidence of first and second-degree perineal tears was significantly higher in group (B) (75.4% vs. 20.2%, p = 0.001) than group (A). Conclusion: Preemptive episiotomy in multiparous women with high SG score seems to be an effective strategy in prevention of perineal tears during vaginal delivery, especially the third and fourth-degree tears.","PeriodicalId":206072,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Gynecology and Obstetrics","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132601235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
