An important aspect of these systems is discoverability based on common resource description. The open grid forum (OGF) is defining GLUE, a conceptual model and reference realizations to concrete data models for describing advertisable capabilities of Grid services and resources. The adoption of this new specification implies that several middleware components must be instrumented to measure and expose the defined properties with attention to specification conformance, data quality and support for multiple data formats. Current Grid middlewares already address this problem by relying on frameworks to support and simplify this task, nevertheless the proposed solutions are tight-coupled to specific data models or format with limited support for data quality enforcement, furthermore they do not leverage a number of standards and technologies for the management of networked resources. This paper presents GLUEMan, a framework based on WBEM-based technologies which supports the integration of heterogenous information providers for the GLUE information model and adds functionalities such data quality enforcement and client-side translation to different concrete data models. However, applying ODP in a model-driven context requires some commitment to a series oftransformation activities, and, in these, the viewpoints are used in different ways. In particular, the technology viewpoint can enter into transformations in a number of different ways, depending on the style and target ofthe system specification. How to enhance interoperability between stakeholders and improve efficiency of supply chain management is the key issue that needs to be addressed in automobile industry . This paper proposes a methodology that provides a guide on how to establish interoperability between enterprises through a federated approach. According to this methodology, an interoperability service utility platform is designed and implemented for automobile supply chain management. In the platform, interoperability is considered to be a utility-like capability and delivered in the form of SaaS. Consequently the development and deployment of Web services tend to be ad-hoc and platform-oriented. This introduces potential interoperability issues and maintenance overhead. This paper proposes a model-driven framework that includes a Web service modeling language describing functionality and non-functional properties of service-oriented applications in unified models. This Web service modeling language is based on a Web service meta-model extracted directly from the WS-* standards. We developed a corresponding tool that generates code stubs, configurations and deployment heuristics, along with standard-based artifacts from models. In this paper, we present an embedded prototype system which collects environmental data and distributes them either using Web service protocols or using the JXTA Peer-to-Peer protocol stack. The complete system was implemented based on both protocol stacks in order to prove their applicability for a middleware solution in the field of sensor networks. The performance of both stacks is analyzed, utilizing an embedded sensor gateway node with a wireless GPRS connection. In case of the Web service approach standard XML-based SOAP messages as well as WAP binary XML (WBXML) based SOAP messages are examined and compared against the JXTA peer-to-peer protocol. Both the processing power of the embedded sensor gateway node and the throughput of the GPRS-based wireless communication channel are the major bottlenecks focused in this performance evaluation. However, the focus of such frameworks on system's non-functional concerns is an after-thought and their support is at best adhoc. Further, such frameworks lack strong decoupling between the modeling of the system's structural composition and their QoS requirements. This lack of QoS modularization limits (1) reusability of such frameworks, (2) ease of their maintenance when new non-functional characteristics are added, and (3) independent evolution of the modeling frameworks along both the structural and non-functional dimensions. This paper describes Component QoS modeling language (CQML), which is a reusable, extensible, and platform-independent QoS Modeling Language that provides strong separation between the structural and non-functional dimensions. CQML supports independent evolution of structural metamodel of composition modeling languages as well as QoS metamodel. In 2006 the UDDI cloud, a registries federation managed by IBM, HP, Microsoft and SAP, was shut down with the end of the UDDI business registry (UBR) project. UDDI is still widely adopted for private registries. Isolated public registries are quite rare and an UDDI coordination mechanism is still missing. In URB a pure entries replication mechanism was allowing access to all the entries published on each server. However, such pure replication does not scale and prevents the creation of dynamic federation of UDDI registries. This paper describes a work-in-progress solution based on a inter-node operation enabling the replication APIs to distribute the entries across a distributed hash table (DHT). Since this technology for executing transformations written in high-level, declarative specification languages is of very recent date, we observe that there is little knowledge available on how to write such declarative model transformations. Consequently, there is a need for a body of knowledge on transformation engineering. With this paper we intend to make an initial contribution to this emerging discipline. Based on our experiences we propose a number of useful design patterns for transformation specification. In addition we provide a method for specifying such transformation patterns in QVT, such that others can add their own patterns to a catalogue and the body of knowledge can grow as experience is built up.
