Adaptive routing strategies, which are superior to oblivious routing, supply a set of alternative output virtual channels associated with different physical links, when a message is routed. A selection function selects a free one from the set. In this paper, we have evaluated the performance of three adaptive wormhole routing algorithms with minimum paths in 3D mesh networks: Dynamic Routing proposed by Dally and Aoki, Negative Last routing developed by Glass and Ni based on their Turn Model and Full Dynamic Routing proposed by us based on Duato’s adaptive routing theory. Three different selection functions, namely Static, Random and Greedy have been compared.","PeriodicalId":204479,"journal":{"name":"[1993] Proceedings 26th Annual Simulation Symposium","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133909855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A WarpLog program is a collection of communicating active objects, called agents. As in concurrent object-oriented processing, message passing is the only means for achieving cooperation and synchronization among concurrently processing agents, but processing of messages is based on the Time Warp mechanism. WarpLog provides a flexible way of defining classes of objects, specifying their state variables (properties) as well as their methods (behavior). In addition, an active object (agent) has a script, which specges some activity performed by the active object. WarpLog provides also multiple inheritance as a tool for expressing hierarchical similarities mng various agent classes.","PeriodicalId":204479,"journal":{"name":"[1993] Proceedings 26th Annual Simulation Symposium","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117303094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The code partitioning approach decomposes the simulation algorithm itself into a set of tasks which cooperate in a pipeline. Two parallel simulators using the data partitioning approach have been implemented. Simulators are coupled loosely and use Time Warp and a conservative protocol for synchronisation, respectively. This paper will describe the parallel simulators’ implementation on the basis of a programming library for distributed memory multiprocessors. Resuits will be presented for program executions on the iPSC/2‘ and iPSC/SSO.","PeriodicalId":204479,"journal":{"name":"[1993] Proceedings 26th Annual Simulation Symposium","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130505661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main goal of this paper is to address this problem by introducing an incremental state saving technique with an optimized rollback mechanism. This method is especially suitable for simulations with large simulation states and a small amount of state change from one simulation step to the next. A very common example of such a simulation environment is digital logic simulation with up to a few hundred thousand signal and element states with only a small number of signals changing between two simulation steps. The event queue-indispensable part of every discrete event simulation system-is used as a management tool for incremental state saving, thus reducing administration overhead drastically. An optimized rollback mechanism ensures that only those parts of the simulation state are restored which have to be updated to the rollback time. Results on the experimental observation of memory usage for incremental state saving and time performance show the effectiveness of the introduced mechanisms on our Time Warp system.","PeriodicalId":204479,"journal":{"name":"[1993] Proceedings 26th Annual Simulation Symposium","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125982072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In contrast to previous studies based on the standard hold model for evaluation of performance statically, the proposed Markov hold model is more general and can be used to examine how different implementations respond dynamically to dependent sequences of insertion and deletion requests. The Markov hold model is used to conduct tests based on random, stressed, and correlated input sequences of requests, with performance measures including completion times, sensitivity to correlations, sensitivity to duplication, and eficiency of data-handling. We apply these tests to fourteen different simulation calendar implementations.","PeriodicalId":204479,"journal":{"name":"[1993] Proceedings 26th Annual Simulation Symposium","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127866906","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper compares changes in relation loca- tion of optimized schedules. The simulation methodology describes and evaluates the use of SEMI-JOIN and JOIN query processing tactics with changes in relation location on a Hypercube network. In this paper, we present a multilevel approach for simulating program traces. This approach provides the flexibility of selecting a desirable balance between tlie accuracy and the cost of simulation. We describe a case study of applying this approach to simulating traces of distributed-memory programs. The case study involves defining a hierarchical model of a parallel computer, defining a corresponding hierarchy of simulation levels, and defining the interface between successive simulation levels. The described case study resulted in a tool aimed at assisting designers of algorithms and applications for the IBM Vulcan distributed-memory parallel computer.","PeriodicalId":204479,"journal":{"name":"[1993] Proceedings 26th Annual Simulation Symposium","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133012361","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
