Methods: This was a correlational research with structural equation modeling method. The statistical population of this research was made up of all men aged 40 to 60 in Razavi Khorasan province, 200 of whom were selected by convenience sampling and answered the questionnaires of marital intimacy, mid-life identity crisis, and tendency to infidelity. Data analysis was done using structural equation method using SPSS and AMOS softwares. Findings: The results of this research showed that the assumed model has a good fit. Also, the results of the analysis indicated a direct relationship between the tendency to infidelity and the midlife crisis, and there was an indirect relationship between the midlife crisis through marital intimacy on the tendency to cheat. Also, marital intimacy has an inverse and significant relationship with the independent variable of the midlife crisis, as well as marital infidelity. It has a direct and significant relationship with midlife crisis, and there is an inverse and significant relationship (-0.643) between marital infidelity and marital intimacy. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that marital intimacy has been able to play a mediating role between midlife crisis and the tendency toward infidelity. So, marital intimacy and midlife crisis can play an influential role in married life and the tendency of people to commit marital infidelity. Therefore, it is necessary to provide appropriate knowledge and training to couples who are exposed to these injuries.","PeriodicalId":203552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Counseling Research","volume":" 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141828374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: The research type was descriptive and survey methodology was used. The total sample size consisted of 271 students of Al-Zahra University (S) who were married between the years 2020 and 2023, and this number was able to fill out the Mirzaei’s (2021) Cultural Globalization and the Kianpour et al. (2015) and Afsharian (2021) Modern Identity Questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted using SPSS and AMOS softwares. Results: In terms of effecting the dimensions of the dependent variable (spouse selection spaces), the highest rate was related to the relationship between individualism and the unsupervised spousal selection space (0.77); this means that the higher the level of individualism, the higher the number of unsupervised marriages and vice versa. The lowest level of correlation was also seen between the variables of using Iranian music and the atmosphere of passive supervision in choosing a spouse (0.16). Also, relying on the Sobel test, it was determined that the value of this statistic in all variables is greater than ±1.96, and this means that the modern identity variable has played a significant mediating role in the relationship between cultural globalization and spouse selection spaces. Conclusion: Considering the limitless expansion of communication and the internet and virtual space that is accessible to everyone, the religious-traditional fabric of Iranian society, as well as the decrease in the marriage rate and the increase in the divorce rate in the current era, it seems that the authorities should adopt appropriate policies and providing basic and important schemas by experts and university professors is more and more able to return the atmosphere of marriage and choosing a spouse to the past and its traditional state and also to overcome such alarming statistics related to the categories of marriage and divorce. In other words, it is necessary to think of measures to pay attention to the rich traditional culture so that the identity of Iranians does not suffer from contradictions and conflicts.","PeriodicalId":203552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Counseling Research","volume":" 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141830326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study aimed to explain the concept of couple caregiving. Methods: This qualitative research was conducted in 2021, adopting a grounded theory approach. For this purpose, ten couples residing in city of Aligudarz (Iran) were selected based on inclusion criteria and purposive sampling. The sampling continued until data saturation was reached. These individuals were examined through semi-structured, in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using Strauss and Corbin’s (2014) method and the MAXQDA20 software. Findings: The data analysis led to the identification of 78 open codes and 13 axial codes in the form of causal conditions: life history, conscious marriage; contextual conditions: individual and couple contexts; efficient couple relationship; Intervening conditions: behavioral and cognitive facilitating factors; obstacles: personal and environmental stressors; Strategies for sustaining and improving care, and persona; outcomes for the caregiver and care recipient and couple outcomes and the central theme of “reciprocal couple caregiving” was chosen. Conclusions: The findings indicated that factors influencing couple caregiving extend to the time before marriage. Couple caregiving involves conscious marriage and proactive and constructive actions of the couple. It is an interactive and reciprocal process that enhances the insight and awareness of the couple, and the use of care-seeking and caregiving receptivity strategies significantly contributes to its continuity.","PeriodicalId":203552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Counseling Research","volume":" 27","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140990272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
