However, it is often unknown and its direct measurement with devices such as Netflow is a too heavy process for large high-speed networks. The estimation of the traffic matrix from link counts appears as the best alternative approach. Recent works assume that prior information do not allow alone an accurate estimation of the traffic matrix so they are using Netflow measures to calibrate their model. These models assume spatial and temporal relations between different instants of measure. We show in this paper that we can obtain similar error rates without this costly calibration phase thanks to a spatial and temporal relation introduced in K. Papagiannaki et al. In this paper, we focus on the use of DCCP/CCID3 (Congestion Control ID 3) over a DiffServ/AF class. This class of service is used to build services that provide only a minimum throughput guarantee without any delay or jitter restrictions. This minimum throughput guarantee is called the target rate. In this context, the throughput obtained by DCCP/CCID3 mainly depends on RTT and loss probability. As a result, the application does not always get the negotiated target rate. To cope with this problem, we propose to evaluate a simple adaptation of the CCID3 congestion control mechanism, allowing the application to reach its target rate whatever the RTT value of the application's flow is. As this adaptation can be seen as an extension to the DCCP with CCID3 congestion control, we call it gDCCP for guaranteed DCCP. Results from simulations are presented to illustrate the improvements of the proposed modification in various situations. While individual networks are starting to offer QoS, it remains as elusive as ever for the Internet as a whole. A number of different QoS solutions are being deployed within networks leading to a highly heterogeneous Internet. On the other hand, there are a number of proposed standards that try to solve such great heterogeneity with fully-tailored architectures. The thesis of this paper is that heterogeneity should not be fought; instead, tussles will eventually arise among different approaches and these should be the vector towards evolution and hence must be allowed as part of the design. Each domain should be free to make its own internal choices on how to deliver QoS, while presenting a common interface. The problem then becomes the coordination of the decisions of different domains. The model design, covering explicit and implicit AC, exhibits relevant properties which allow managing QoS and SLSs in multiservice IP networks in a flexible and scalable manner. These properties stem from the way service-dependent AC and on-line service performance monitoring are proposed and articulated in the model's architecture and operation. The scalability debate, carried out at these two levels, highlights key steps toward self-adaptive service-oriented AC and low overhead multiservice monitoring. We focus in this paper on the modeling of energy consumption at the MAC layer in the context of QoS-capable WLAN, namely IEEE 802.11e, and propose an analytical model for the lifetime of a terminal for different access categories. Our results quantify the impact of priority on energy consumption and show how the latter varies as a function of the network size, the number of stations in each priority group as well as the propagation environment: indoor versus outdoor. This makes possible the selection, the integration and the dynamic invocation of services. In this way, services are able to dynamically adapt themselves to changes without human intervention. The main purpose of this paper is to present an algorithm for matching SWS. The algorithm uses the description of the services capabilities to match the semantic values. The traditional matching has been improving using ontologies witch constitutes a step further in the matching algorithms. To implement the algorithm an agent FIPA compliant architecture has been designed and implemented. The results obtained are positives. In this respect, the TISPAN group from ETSI is working in the specification of a next generation network, mainly based on IMS as the service signalling architecture. Nevertheless, the first release of the TISPAN NGN does not consider the QoS provisioning mechanisms in the end user environment. QoS support will necessarily require to extend the QoS scope to the client premises, in order to provide a real end-to-end QoS. In this scenario, the figure of a residential gateway in the user network plays a crucial role. In this paper, an architecture is presented to allow the automatic configuration of the QoS parameters in a residential gateway directly connected to a TISPAN compliant next generation network.
