In a railway system with ticket booking mechanism, the train dispatching task is quite different and more challenging compared with a system without ticket booking mechanism. In particular when there are severe disruptions where multiple trains are cancelled. This paper focuses on the problem of train rescheduling under disruptions, while simultaneously considering passenger reassignments. A mixed-integer linear programming model is developed to maximize the number of transported passengers who are influenced by the impacted train and to minimize total delays at the same time. A“big-M” method is also used to represent complex “if-then” mapping constraints between passenger reassignment and train stopping constraints. A set of numerical experiments is presented based on a railway network to demonstrate the validity and efficiency of the model.","PeriodicalId":202415,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation (ICIRT)","volume":"282 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116087063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Automation has become the smarter solution in various railway applications to enhance the capacity, reliability, and efficiency of the railway system. Automation systems such as visual inspection and industrial robot arms play a critical role in heavy manipulation and dangerous operations. Maintenance efficiency and overall safety would be greatly improved. There is a research gap for systematic approaches to making decisions on which certain maintenance tasks are suitable for automation. This paper presents a generic railway maintenance function allocation framework, which helps decision making in allocating maintenance tasks at the early stages of introducing automation solutions into modern rolling stock maintenance depot. Depot working environments are analysed and an example of robotic wheelset inspection is presented.","PeriodicalId":202415,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation (ICIRT)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116270711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to improve the performance of the sensors for data acquisition, an aerosoljet 3D printing technology is adopted to print customized sensors in this research. Compared with conventional bulk sensors, the customized sensors have a smaller size, higher accuracy, faster response time and could be printed onto the surface directly. However, as the line morphology of printed patterns has significant influence on the electrical properties, we need to investigate the influence of the process parameters on the line morphology and optimize the printed line quality. In this paper, we consider sheath gas flow rate and carrier gas flow rate as the key process parameters. The line roughness and line overspray are considered as the line quality indices. Latin hypercube sampling is adopted to fully explore the entire design space. And, a hybrid machine learning approach is proposed to analyze the relationship between line morphology and the process parameters, and finally an optimal operating window is identified based on the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":202415,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation (ICIRT)","volume":"165 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120987409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the increase of railway line density and people's new demand for travel, train control system is constantly adding new functions. However, the increase of function also brings new challenges to the safety of train control system. Traditional testing by experience has failed to guarantee the safety requirements of the expanded system. Under this background, in this paper, we first propose a new method that use Simulink/Stateflow to build graphical models and simulate for CTCS to verify the security. Then, we take the Automatic Train Operation(ATO) which is a new function added in the CTCS2 train control system(CTCS Level 2+ATO) as an example, build models and analyze these graphical models via simulations under five circumstances. Finally, it is found that under certain circumstances, the train can be accelerated through the station and can not stop normally, it is a serious safety hazard.","PeriodicalId":202415,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation (ICIRT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123865528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our findings show that travelers tend to reroute incented by differential pricing to avoid the overcrowding segments, even if the alternative route has a slight long time and more transfers. By conducting the SP (Stated Preference) survey at stations in the Shanghai metro system, the real sample data were collected. And the binary logit model fits best to estimate the impact of differential pricing on the route choice of the peak hour metro passengers. The results show that some socio-demographic characteristics of passengers can influence their route choice behavior to a certain extent. Meanwhile, differential pricing has a significant effect on the route choice when passengers suffer from the oversaturated situations during peak hours.","PeriodicalId":202415,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation (ICIRT)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130385926","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, the volume of commuters has been increasing constantly over the past 10 years which places a huge strain on the entire rail network thus stoppages in train services have become more frequent. This research is an experiment in implementing predictive maintenance on the upkeep of the trains using a multilayer perceptron artificial neural network. The steps taken to select the key parameters for condition monitoring and as inputs to the multilayer perceptron were discussed. Suitable equipment that can be used in collecting the data was also suggested. In some industrial fields, model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods have been widely developed and applied in recent years. Alstom and Bombardier have also attempted to adopt MBSE methods in their rolling stock product design to improve design quality, improve efficiency and reduce development risk. An attempt to design EMU based on the MBSE approach in China was introduced, taking the door control system as an example. The design is divided into three stages including requirement analysis, function breakdown and system architecture generation, which are interrelated with four design loops. The requirement and use case model, function model, as well as logical and physical architecture model of the door control system were built with SysML. Nine kinds of diagrams represent various view of the model, demonstrate the applicability of the MBSE method in the EMU designing. The application of SysML and Modelica in system modeling and strengthening MBSE is prospected.","PeriodicalId":202415,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation (ICIRT)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128508972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The heavy wear, long lifetime and adverse conditions the infrastructure is subject to gives rise to malfunctions and failures of components. Failure processes of individual components are reasonably well understood and have been analyzed using formal methods including fault trees and failure mode and effect analysis. Still, the understanding of the effects of infrastructure failures on the capacity and the performance of the entire network in operations remains limited to special cases or scenario-based approaches. In the present paper, we elaborate how formal methods used in risk assessment of individual components can be transferred to the analysis of the performance of the network. By identifying trains with their train paths we introduce a coupling between train operations and infrastructure asset management. We also discuss how a pre-defined level of service can be used to classify failure states or degraded modes of the system. Apart from a redundancy-based resilience analysis of network design the method can be used to identify critical elements and relevant failure scenarios, which can be used in timetabling applications.","PeriodicalId":202415,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation (ICIRT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127427469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method can suppress the fundamental frequency signal of the stator current. Firstly, a reference signal is generated by the cross-correlation function, and the reference signal with the same frequency as the stator current signal. Then original stator current signal and reference signal are processed simultaneously by DTW, so that fundamental frequency signal of the stator current is suppressed and the side frequency component is highlighted. Finally, the original stator current signal and reference signal are subtracted, and the Root Mean Square (RMS) of the residuals to estimate the damage degrees of the incipient rotor. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed fault monitoring method.","PeriodicalId":202415,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation (ICIRT)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115107025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We argue in favor of keeping the layer of resilience associated with the train driver in the system through a train operator workplace that enables remote supervision, diagnosis and intervention of automated rolling stock out of a control center. Firstly, results from a simulator study featuring a prototypical remote workplace, developed in an iterative user-centered design process, show positive feedback in a sample of active German train drivers (n}=textbf{{20) in terms of acceptance ratings, usability assessment and perceived benefit to system resilience. Secondly, lower than optimal workload ratings in two experimental conditions of varying task load indicated free capacity for additional operational tasks throughout periods without direct manual interventions. Further insights on task load and workplace design as well as their limits are discussed, pointing out the direction for the next steps to be taken in the following design iterations. Future research needs to generate measures suitable for comparing system resilience between different grades of automation.","PeriodicalId":202415,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation (ICIRT)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132972654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
