The study aimed to determine if video learning media could enhance students’ understanding and improve their mathematical performance in comparison to traditional teaching methods. The subject of this study is 62 fourth-grade students from a public elementary school in Jakarta. The students were divided into 2 classes which an experimental class and control class. This study used quasi experimental design with quantitative method and non-probability sampling. This research uses quantitative research. sampling with non-probability techniques to obtain 1 class, namely class III, following the data taken by the researchers. The data collection technique used the test method to find out the results of writing essays using a pre-test and post-test to find out how much influence the use of comic strip media had on the ability to write essays. In this study, the pre-experimental design was used with the one-group pretest-posttest design. The population that became the object of this research was 20 third-grade students of a private Islamic school in Porong. Based on data analysis using the N-Gain formula, it shows that the average result of the pre-test is 67.7, and the average result of the post-test score is 85.55. Based on data processing from the Eta Squared test, it was 0.871 in the pre-test and 0.882 in the post-test. If t 0.14 indicates that this comic strip medium has a significant influence, the results of the paired sample pre-test sig. (2-tailed) in the study are.000, then the decision-making is following the t-test. If the value of sig. (2-tailed) is below 0.05, then there is an increase or a very significant effect on the research variables. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of comic strip media on the ability to write stories by third-grade students greatly affects their writing ability of students.","PeriodicalId":200925,"journal":{"name":"Journal Of Teaching And Learning In Elementary Education","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124108590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite the fact that literature has documented the effectiveness of games approach in children instruction, to some, use of game is disruptive to actual learning. This necessitates more experimental studies to further clear ambiguities about the use of games in pre-primary classrooms. This study examined the impact of games on pre-primary children’s interest and performance in numeracy. A pretest-posttest, control group, quasi-experimental was adopted. Fifty Nursery Two pupils were randomly assigned to treatment and control groups. The instruments used were Pre-primary Children’s Numeracy Achievement Test (r=0.86) and Pupils’ Interest in Numeracy Scale (r=0.81). The data collected were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) and Scheffe’s Post Hoc Pairwise Comparison. Results indicated that games method was effective on pre-primary children’s learning of numeracy (F (1, 42) = 373.502; P < 0.05) and also increased their interest in numeracy instruction (F (1, 42) = 9.773; P < 0.05). Based on these findings, recommendations were made that teachers, parents and curriculum developers should encourage the use of games method to improve numeracy instruction among pre-primary education. Blended learning models that combine online and offline methods have emerged as a popular approach to facilitate effective teaching during the pandemic. This study examines the influence of a blended learning model assisted by YouTube application on the thematic learning outcomes of fifth-grade students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study uses a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group. The results show that the blended learning model significantly improved students' thematic learning outcomes compared to the traditional classroom approach. The study also found that the YouTube application played a significant role in facilitating students' engagement and motivation in the learning process. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of blended learning models and the potential of technology-assisted learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.","PeriodicalId":200925,"journal":{"name":"Journal Of Teaching And Learning In Elementary Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121050585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
