Numerous adsorption kinetic study successes were achieved utilizing activated carbons of coconut shell, especially the Pseudo-First and Pseudo-Second order models with little/no regards to the unique behavior described by the Avrami, Bangham and the Fractional Power kinetic models. The parameters in those models are determined to describe the sorption mechanism. Avrami model fitting results suggests a complex adsorption process, which does not follow the first-order kinetic. Obtained results show that the Fractional Power model best described the Coconut Shell-Activated Carbon Methylene blue bio-sorption process at constant adsorption capacity of 15937.8 mg/g. Findings show that Bangham kinetic model does not fit the experimental data for Methylene blue sorption from aqueous solution. Methylene blue exposure issues like gastrointestinal discomfort, skin and eye irritation, and imbalances in the populations of various species in aquatic ecosystems due to impacts on their growth, reproduction and survival, may be solved using a very effective adsorbent, such as the Coconut Shell -Activated Carbon used here.\u0000

The scintillation light yield was measured using the comparative method. Considering the light-scattering and self-absorbing properties of powder scintillators, alpha particles from 241Am source were used for excitation instead of Gamma/X rays, while a Ce3+ activated LuAG single crystal (SC) was employed as the reference detector due to its well-established light yield. A photomultiplier tube (PMT) served as the photodetector, and signals were read out by a nuclear instrumentation chain. The results demonstrate that the newly prepared LuAG:Ce NP exhibits a light output that is approximately 90% of that of the single crystal reference. These findings highlight the promising potential of NP scintillators as a viable alternative to single crystals, especially in applications where the preference for powder scintillators is evident.

The study is conducted using COMSOL Multiphysics to understand the charge location, polarity, and parameters affecting their behavior. A 2D axisymmetric insulator design is used to visualize the overall charges on the insulating system (space charge) and along the insulating surface (surface charge density) under uniform and non-uniform pollution conditions. The research shows that the total charge accumulates over the surface area of the glass material. To quantify the amount of this charge, a simulation method based on using the surface integral of the electric displacement field over this area is introduced, which is supported by experimental tests. Comparing both simulation and experimental results provides insights into the simulation reliability and the parameters affinity used to those of the real model. Moreover, the simulation helps to identify the critical area where a high amount of charges is accumulated. The findings of this study are presented and examined.\u0000 \u0000

In recent years, and at global scale, bioenergy was seen as the leading renewable energy source. That contribution was particularly consistent with long term climate targets. The 2015 updated version of the Algeria Renewable Energy Development Program foresees the introduction of biomass sector with a contribution of 1000 MW by 2030. This represents barely 5% of the country’s renewable energy targets which amount to 22 000 MW, 93.5% of which are planned for solar and wind. In 2020, this objective has been reduced to 15,000 MW and the deadline extended to 2035. To date, despite the growing perception of a real desire to encourage clean energy projects, the renewable energy installed capacity is less than 500 MW without any contribution from the biomass sector. However, whatever the goals or the achievements, the need for renewable deployment is crucial for strategic purposes such as energy, water desalination and food security. The relationship between food security, sustainable development, and renewable energy is well demonstrated. Ensuring food security is closely linked with energy, hence with renewable energy sources in the middle and long term, including biomass valorization. This paper presents a comprehensive outlook of the bioenergy sector, highlighting the barriers which stand in the path of biomass recovery and use. Today, it appears clearly that a significant increase in renewable energy can only be achieved by higher solar power production.\u0000

Numerous studies have been carried out to develop different techniques with the aim of ensuring reliable and efficient recognition systems. Of our five senses, vision takes up the most of the neurons in our brain. This makes the visual approach challenging. This paper proposes to develop a new facial recognition technique based on the concept of Human Visual System in order to simulate or imitate human perception. Our approach exploits the behavior of the Human Visual System in biometric systems to improve individual recognition. It focuses on Perceptual Channel Decomposition in order to generate images, confined around a certain frequency range, perfectly uncorrelated. For the extraction of characteristic vectors, our technique uses the Principal Component Analysis. The principle of the visual approach consists of exploiting one or more characteristics of the peripheral parts of the Human Visual System. These characteristics can integrate the sensitivity of the Human Visual System to spatial frequencies, its sensitivity to local contrast. The Principal Component Analysis uses a set of seventeen channels, each adjusted to a band of given radial frequencies and orientation. The seventeen output images contain the same spatial information but are perfectly uncorrelated from a spectral point of view. In the implementation phase, we limited ourselves to explore this technique by using only four frequency rings. The results obtained are conclusive and satisfactory.

Some keys parameters of the processes are then modified to analyze the "hot spots" and perform a sensitivity analysis to identify their influence on the results. Data for the inventory came from actual city facilities, and background process information came from Eco invent version 3.1 of SimaPro 8.1 software. The analyzed process contribution indicates that the global warming potential is affected by the anaerobic digestion because of the NOx and CO emissions from the thermal processes of biogas burning and fuel oil combustion for digesters heating. Furthermore, plastics recycling is environmentally beneficial because of net savings. The energy valorization of biogas produces the least amount of environmental damage, eliminating 403.06 kg CO2 eq/ton of waste, saving 18.2 E+09 MJ/ton of fossil fuels, and producing 2.8 E+08 kWhel/year, or 6% of the city's annual electricity consumption.\u0000

It was found that the process leads to the microstructural refinement in the NZ due to the dynamic recrystallization with a global microstructural heterogeneity through the weld. The maximum microhardness values were attributed to the finest microstructure. The obtained results revealed that the cathodic behavior of the grain boundaries improves the corrosion resistance of the NZ. Thus, the corrosion resistance enhancement was ascribed to the most homogeneous microstructure and the finest grains.

The experiments are performed in a continuous mode in a two-stage quartz reactor: thermal pyrolysis of HDPE followed by the catalytic decomposition of the pyrolysis gases over a nickel catalyst prepared from mining residues. To examine the effect of the pyrolysis temperature on the yield and quality of the final products, two steps were followed. First, non-catalytic pyrolysis experiments were run at different temperatures (600, 650, and 700 °C), and the products were examined. Second, pyrolysis–catalysis experiments were performed at the same pyrolysis temperatures and a fixed catalytic temperature (600 °C) to examine the CNF and hydrogen yields. The results showed that the production of carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) and H2 is optimal at 650 °C, with yields of 70.8 and 38.0 wt%, respectively. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed the presence of carbon filaments with different diameters and lengths at the three different temperatures. Moreover, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) confirmed that the produced carbon is filamentous, with the presence of amorphous carbon at 700 °C.
