It affects the small airways, its surrounding parenchyma and interstitium. It can manifest either as a fibrosing or non-fibrosing diffuse lung disease. The fibrotic pattern is irreversible, hence if not recognized early, it embarks on a downhill course. The pattern and anatomical distribution of fibrosis shows some differences from other fibrosing disorders. Features resembling sarcoidosis, fibrosing NSIP or UIP may be seen towards the end stage, making distinction difficult. Clinical evaluation and perusal of previous records helps suggest the diagnosis and assess its progress. In this review article, an attempt will be made to understand the disease in order to enable the radiologist add value in a multidisciplinary discussion (MDD).","PeriodicalId":198632,"journal":{"name":"Clinical Radiology & Imaging Journal","volume":"517 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123569814","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Issue: X-rays imparting low dose have some dominance in the use of ionising radiation (IR) in clinical radiological investigations. In good clinical diagnostic practice, with radiation effects anticipated to be wholly stochastic, it is simply not possible to be specific about risks to health other than to acknowledge an anticipated increase in probability with dose. Difficulties in making an assessment of risk can be further compounded given possible cumulative effects from previous exposures and from varying clinical state. Scientific Considerations: Clinically focused research involving IR and subjects (reviewed by ethics committees and other parties) necessarily involves assessment of the study protocol. In addition to the embodiment of radiation protection principles, the protocol must conform to the general ethical principles of beneficence, prudence, justice and dignity, all of which are important. The protection aspects arising from the use of radiation needs to be assessed by radiation experts, the safety of study participants needing to be weighed against the necessity for the study. This information must be fully explained to the participant as part of the process of seeking consent. In obtaining consent, the participant information sheet must be of an appropriate quality of language and possible specific risks provided in a transparent manner. Conclusion: In clinical studies that involve the use of IR, the study protocol must contain all relevant radiation protection measures. It is important that review of the protocol should involve IR experts.","PeriodicalId":198632,"journal":{"name":"Clinical Radiology & Imaging Journal","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127283216","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been seen to have the most benefit in hepatobiliary and colorectal surgery. Different reconstruction means have been proposed, but all of them are considered validated to plan the critical steps of the intervention. This paper presents our 3D reconstruction model of post-bariatric surgery anatomy, to propose its applicability in revisional surgery. Anatomical models of three-dimensional stomach imaging and post-surgery anatomy have been developed. CT scan images are obtained with the Siemens Somatom Perspective 64equipment. Image recovery is in DICOM format and the processing to achieve three-dimensional reconstruction is done with the OsiriX computer program, performing a complete segmentation of the entire surface to be reconstructed, and a modification of image density. The obtaining of three-dimensional reconstruction images of post-bariatric surgery anatomy allows to develop models that can improve preoperative planning in revision surgery cases, but the risk-benefit of the radiation produced by the CT scan must be assessed to do it systematically","PeriodicalId":198632,"journal":{"name":"Clinical Radiology & Imaging Journal","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128454808","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spontaneous rupture is attributed to some intrinsic and extrinsic factors in which medications side effect (e.g. corticosteroids and quinolones) is the most common reported cause in the literature. Case presentation: we present a case of 76-year-old female known case of uncontrolled type II diabetes and hypertrophic right Charcot foot. She was diagnosed with chronic foot osteomyelitis for which she received long course of ceftriaxone. Six month following completing the antibiotic course, she presented with fever and malaise with decreased right foot range of motion in the absence of traumatic event. Upon requesting multiple imaging modalities, she was diagnosed with acute Achilles tendon rupture in the setting of acute on top of chronic calcaneus osteomyelitis. Conclusion: AT rupture in the setting of osteomyelitis is a rare entity and has not been reported previously in the literature. This case will bring the attention in evaluating the tendons thoroughly in cases of osteomyelitis.","PeriodicalId":198632,"journal":{"name":"Clinical Radiology & Imaging Journal","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129078596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They contribute to 15-20% of all cases in a sports medicine clinic [1,2]. These injuries occurs when a normal bone is exposed to excessive, repetitive forces leading to altered bone homeostasis with predominant osteoclastic function with osseous breakdown leading to micro fractures in the bone which may progress to a frank fracture line in the setting of continued exposure[3].","PeriodicalId":198632,"journal":{"name":"Clinical Radiology & Imaging Journal","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116027203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Very often, patients present for an examination with non-specific abdominal pain accompanied by discrete changes in the stool, which can lead to diagnostic confusion in the case of a normal ultrasound finding in the abdomen. Many radiologists have minimal experience with bowel ultrasound outside of basic indications such as appendicitis and intususception and may be uncomfortable interpreting images for other diagnosis. In our paper, we present a case of ileitis in which the diagnosis was established by ultrasound findings of hypoechoic submucosa of the terminal ileum segment along the mesenteric edge. Submucosal hypoechogenicity of the ileum can be the only sign of primary inflammation of the ileum, but also a secondary ultrasound sign of appendicitis, while in our case hypoechogenicity of the submucosa was present only on the mesenteric side of the ileum, which enabled the initial diagnosis of ileitis and the initiation of conservative therapy. Bowel ultrasound is an important diagnostic procedure in the emergency department in cases of acute abdominal pain, which in a large percentage of cases enables the triage of these patients for surgical or medical treatment.","PeriodicalId":198632,"journal":{"name":"Clinical Radiology & Imaging Journal","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121942682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is very important for the proper development of the embryo, cushions it from mechanical shocks a major role in assisting the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy. A thorough examination of the placenta plays an important role in providing significant clinical information that may affect the welfare of the fetus and the mother but sadly, it is less evaluated during routine obstetric ultrasound scan. Objective: This study discussed in simplified details, the developmental anatomy of the placenta, related ultrasonography of the appearance of the typical placenta which provides necessary clinical information and help. predict adverse fetal outcomes. Also discussed were some pathological findings that can be seen in routine ultrasound scan with the hematological complications of placenta previa as a focus. Methodology: The research was designed from search engines with reference to valid studies from academic sources including ResearchGate, PubMed and Google Scholar. We also evaluated various related titles, abstracts and full reports for eligibility. Conclusion: The placenta is a very important organ in the development of the fetus but easily overlooked during routine ultrasound and a proper check of the health can avert morbidity and mortality of the fetus.","PeriodicalId":198632,"journal":{"name":"Clinical Radiology & Imaging Journal","volume":"15 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130603801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bilateral upper limb ischemia is however an infrequently reported complication of patients with diabetes mellitus as compared to the lower limbs. However, it can have devastating consequences for the patient including ischemic necrosis and subsequent amputation of the fingers. Angiography is often required to assess the extent of the disease and to decide further management. CT angiography is a less invasive and effective method of assessment of vascular compromise. We are reporting a case where we performed bilateral upper limb CT angiography simultaneously to minimize the radiation burden to the patient and the potential for renal damage. The contrast was injected using a vein of the lower limb and bilateral athermanous plaques in the arteries visualized in a single scan.","PeriodicalId":198632,"journal":{"name":"Clinical Radiology & Imaging Journal","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122120115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
