Previous research predicted the period of purification of the bioremediation of soil contaminated with a single chemical substance. In this research, a numerical analysis model was developed to solve the problem of bioremediation of oil contaminated soil. Parameters for the numerical model were obtained by opened- and closed-batch experiments. The reliability of the numerical model was confirmed by column experiments with oil-contaminated soil. Next, parametric studies were conducted to investigate an appropriate embankment height that can keep aerobic condition by diffusing atmospheric oxygen into the embankment for rapid bioremediation. Two method case studies for a biopile method and a land farming method in bioremediation were conducted to evaluate the remediation performance. As the results, this paper concludes that the numerical model is useful to design the bioremediation effectively and evaluating the cost-benefits of a biopile method and a land farming method.","PeriodicalId":198385,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japan Society of Civil Engineers, Ser.
