Both experiments were carried out at the Pot House of the (NIA Nuclear Institute of Agriculture, Tandojam)(Latitude: 25.433. Longitude: 68.533), the experiment was established as a randomized complete block design (RCBD). Therewere six varieties of wheat, namely IBWSN1010, IBWSN 1025, TD1, ESW9525 Chakwal86 and Khirman, which were used to study the correlation coefficient between morphological and physiological traits. The study was based on fifteen (15) morphologically and physiologicallytraits that were observed. The analysis of variance showed significant differences between the characteristics of the varieties. The ESW9525 showed better performanceforall morphological and physiological traits. The correlation and the coefficientanalysisshowed that the days to maturity and the days to growth predicted significant positive predictions related to the height of the plant (cm) and the length of the ear. Days to75% heading and days to 75% maturity showed negative and positive effects forosmotic potential, relative water content in% and total chlorophyll content in%. This study was initiated during 2017-18 to enhance soil nitrogen contents and organic matter through green manuring and augmentation of N use efficiency under agro-ecological condition of Quetta. This experiment consists of five treatments (T1= Green manuring (GM); T2 = GM +25% recommended N (30 kg N ha-1); T3 = GM+50% N (60 kg N ha-1); T4= GM+75% N (90 kg N ha-1); T5= GM+100%N (120 kg N ha-1) andthree replicationsbased on randomized complete block design (RCBD). The results revealed that all the study parameters except plant height and chlorophyll contents were improved when75and 100% recommended N were applied to wheat cropsafter green manuring. Green manuring helped in enhancing soil N level when 75% recommended N was applied because both 75 and 100% N expressed statistically at par differences for wheat traitsand yield. In addition, green manuring increased NUE by 68.9, 147.0, 126.2,and 100.8% across different N percentages(25, 50, 75and100%).However, without the addition of nitrogen fertilizer,only green manuring could notmeet the N requirement of wheat crops. Consequently, it is inferred that green manuring helped in enhancing soil organic matterand total nitrogenwhen N fertilizer was applied to the wheat crop. It is suggested that various green manure crops can be evaluated to augment SOMand TN for the succeeding crop","PeriodicalId":197597,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Research in Plant Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129774611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So, this study was aimed to enhance phosphorus use efficiency (PUE), growth,and yield of wheatplanted by zero tillage drill after rice harvestusing biozote-P as a microbial inoculant. Three treatments (T1= Traditional wheat planting (control), T2= Zero-tillage Drill wheat planting,and T3= Zero-tillage Drill wheat planting + Biozote-P) were tested in the rice harvested field at UstaMuhammad, Balochistan during 2019-20. Each treatment was comprised of one acreand the collected data weresubjected todescriptive statistics included minimum, maximum,mean, standard deviation,and standard error. The pre soil properties revealed that thesoil was clayey, alkaline (pH>8.0) with low soil organic matter, total nitrogen,and available phosphoruscontents. However, post soil properties showed increase in soil organic matterwith marginal level reduction insoil pHalong with improvement in the availability of total nitrogen(0.051%) and phosphorus(4.31 mg kg-1) in T3. The ZT and ZT+Biozote-P increased grain yield by 32.09 and 36.94% over traditional wheat planting. So, phosphorus use efficiency (PUE) was increased by 41.77 and 29.22% in T3. It means that Biozote-P application under zero tillage drill improved PUE by 9.71% in comparison to sole zero tillage drill wheat planting.Subsequently, it is inferredthat biozote-P (microbial inoculant)can be included in ZT wheat planting in rice-wheat cropping zone of Balochistan","PeriodicalId":197597,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Research in Plant Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128308389","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The maincomplication with late sownwheat is high temperature duringreproductionprocess that effects thegrain yield.So the present study wasplanned to screen four wheat genotypeswith twocheck varieties for high temperature tolerance. The studywas laid out at experimental Farm of NIA, Tandojam during 2011-12. The minimum, maximum temperatures and humidity were recordedduring the experiment.Grain yield and associated traitsin genotypesof wheatsignificantly decreased under latesowing. About 15.8%and 14.0% reduction was measured indays to heading and maturity,respectively in late-sown trial. Morphological traits viz., plant height, spike length, spikelets per spike, grains/spike, 1000-grain weight, biological weight and grain yield/plant also decreased by 9.4, 17.4, 11.2, 11.4, 20.4, 62.2 and 54.8%, respectivelyunder late sowingas compared to normal sowing.The late sowing showed leasteffect on MSH-36 and Sarsabzin comparison to other genotypes. Maximum 1000-grain weight (43.0 g) was obtained under MSH-36 and bold seeds in MSH-3 and NIA-8/7. Maturity period of the wheat also decreased (16.8%)underlate sown wheat.So, the genotypes MSH-36and Sarsabz were found superior to cultivate under late sowing and MSH-3 and NIA-8/7 under normal sowing conditions","PeriodicalId":197597,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Research in Plant Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122193584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Irradiation doses were instrumental in creating significant variability for all traits except percent emergence, indicating that Sorghum vulgareL. cultivars did not perform uniformly across different gamma rays treatments. The cultivars varied significantly (P < 0.05) for all characters. Similarly, doses × cultivars effects were highly significant for radical growth, percent emergence, biomass as well as moisture contents, indicating greater instability of performance formentioned characters across different irradiation treatments. Mutagenic treatments shifted mean values towards negative direction for almost all traits except moisture contents. Mutagenic effectiveness was found to be dependent upon dose and cultivarsconcerned. The present study categorically showed that the applied doses of gamma irradiation were unable to enhance percent emergence and seedling growth. Inter cultivar genetic variations were observed among the cultivars","PeriodicalId":197597,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Research in Plant Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125866607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Alongwith thisrooted offshootthe tree also produces aerial offshoots,which arerootlessand die after plantation. In this study attempts have been made to evaluate the effect of auxins on the root initiation of the aerial offshootsof date palm cv. Hillawi.Therefore, an experiment was conducted to evaluate theeffect of IAA (500 ppm), NAA(500 ppm), alone and in combination on root initiation in aerial offshoots of date palm cv. Hillawi. The auxins were applied to the aerial shoots by injection method. The experiment was laid out according to Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four treatments(Control, 500pmm IAA, 500ppm NAA and 500ppm IAA+NAA) andeach treatment was replicatedthrice.Injection method was used to apply the hormones and after the applicationof auxinsthe base of each offshoot was wrapped carefully with gunny bags having pinewood shaving as rooting media.After 40 days of supplication,offshootswere detached,and parameters were collected. Dataindicated that NAA @ 500ppm gave highest rooting percentage (24.5%), total number of roots per offshoot (82.33) and total weight of roots per offshoots (607.4g) as compared to other treatments. Similarly, a greaternumber of smaller roots (dia<0.5cm) was also achieved in offshoots treated with 500ppm NAA. Hence, it may be concluded that root initiation was remarkablein NAA alone and in combination with IAA at 500ppm concentration in comparison to other treatments.","PeriodicalId":197597,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Research in Plant Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115526082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Production of a less seeded/seedless Kinnow could boost the market value globally. The study described here was conducted at Horticultural research Station Sahiwal, Punjab Pakistan during 2018-2020. Specific morphological traits (linked to tree, leaf, and fruit) and physical and biochemical traits (linked to fruits) were evaluated to make a comparison between conventionally growing Kinnow and a novel less seeded Kinnow strain. Most of the estimated characters varied in their performance and were comparatively better in seeded Kinnow but performance of less seeded Kinnow strain was also quite good and promising. It was concluded from the study that less seeded Kinnow strain is almost equally good in performance regarding physical and nutritional features and can prove to be a great contribution towards expanding the citrus industry to fetch higher market value both in domestic and international markets.","PeriodicalId":197597,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Research in Plant Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127779816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
