To indicate the relevance of the arguments portrayed through this reading of the novels, it draws on a range of critical works written by Mapuche and Chilean intellectuals. It is argued that by creating such narratives, the authors construct what Homi K. Bhabha denotes as a ‘third space’ which facilitates hybridity, destablising fixed notions of identities that the patriarchal and colonial hierarchies seek to perpetuate. It brings the discussion forward to the time in which this book is written, seventeen years after the publication of the most recent novel studied here.
