Although the disease is more common in older age, men in their 30s and 40s are also affected. Despite the quantity and the important socio-psycho-pathogenic significance of erectile dysfunction, it is still treated almost exclusively by the administration of phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and acceptability of a digital lifestyle change intervention for men with erectile dysfunction. Material and Methods: In this pilot study, 20 patients with erectile dysfunction were encouraged to make lifestyle changes using a digital application. Results: We were able to show that the use of a digital application is very effective in supporting the lifestyle change efforts of patients with erectile dysfunction. Conclusion: Digital applications could offer valuable assistance in extending the purely symptomatic therapeutic approach (PDE5I) of men suffering from erectile dysfunction, to include the important component of lifestyle change in order to address the long-term implications of this complex condition","PeriodicalId":194958,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sexual Medicine & Research","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134063416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this qualitative study, we seek to understand the meanings attributed by PrEP users about HIV prevention and their care for sexual health. Conducted with 19 PrEP users from Porto Alegre, represented by: gay men, other men who have sex with men, Trans people, sex workers, serodiscordant partnerships. The interviews took place between December 2021 and March 2022, using a semi-structured instrument, based on the health beliefs model. It allowed the analysis of prevention behavior, starting from four axes: susceptibility, severity, benefits and barriers to prevention. The NVivo program was used for organization and coding. The mean age was 33.1 and there was a predominance of whites, with more than 12 years of schooling, CIS men, homosexuals, MSM. The participants with frequent events without condoms recognized the susceptibility to HIV and there was a consensus that it is a severe condition when left untreated. The benefits of prevention were associated with the perception of a clear conscience, quality of life and the possibility of collectively reducing transmission. However, there is exposure during oral sex, anal sex, and inconsistent condom use. Users know their risks, they are appropriate for prevention, but the search for pleasure is paramount. In conclusion, regardless of the offer of care for HIV control, there is a need to include, in the prevention processes, a dialogue about sexuality and sexual health.","PeriodicalId":194958,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sexual Medicine & Research","volume":"30 12","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113975929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our objective is to evaluate the clinical and sexual characteristics of the homosexual and bisexual population that consults for sexual dysfunctions in five Ibero-American countries. We reviewed the clinical records of homosexual and bisexual patients over 18 years of age who consulted a specialized institution during 2018. Of 26,650 consultations, 41 patients reported a bisexual sexual orientation (0.15%), and 256 were homosexual (0.96%). The mean age was 42.7 years (+/-13.5). The mean evolution time for premature ejaculation was 7.6 years, and for erectile dysfunction, it was 5.7 years (+/- 6 months). 46.9% patients reported that these pathologies deteriorated their relationship, and 81.8% reported that they affected self-esteem and confidence. A differential attention should be considered in the sexual health consultation for this population group","PeriodicalId":194958,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sexual Medicine & Research","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127528920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
