The IMC systems employ a bidirectional delta-switch voltage source converter (VSC) as front-end stage and a bidirectional current source converter (CSC) as the back-end grid connected converter. Two space vector modulation schemes for the studied ac-ac converter featuring commutations under zero current or zero voltage are presented. Finally, in order to demonstrate the advantages of the new delta-switch IMC (Δ-IMC), a comparison of the proposed solution and conventional IMC rated to 10 kW is given for a permanent magnet synchronous generator based wind power system.","PeriodicalId":192784,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126444734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A functional verification process is achieved by taking advantage of the XSG, allowing both software and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations and using the respective results achieved in Matlab as a reference model. The linear system block embedded in the XSG can handle single, double and custom data precision, following the IEEE 754 floating point standard. The current architecture improves the use of internal RAM of the selected FPGA device (Virtex-5) through a special Memory Access Unit, reducing the data access among this RAM and the different modules in the architecture. Examples of systems of six equations, which are suitable for some robotics applications, have been used for comparing the performance of the Linear System block and Matlab, the latter used as a statistical estimator, in order to validate the data results.","PeriodicalId":192784,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128082935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research area addresses system reliability estimation and mathematical model development. This paper presents a -review on system reliability optimization techniques based on different classification of criteria. The main criteria considered in this study are system structure, system state, optimization model, allocation model, modeling and solution methods. The classification can provide an overview of all criteria that should be used to make optimal decisions in a system by taking the reliability into account. Not only it can assist the researchers to develop new optimization models, but also it presents the practitioners how system reliability optimization models can help industries. The property of an electromagnetic wave changes owing to the effects of relative dielectric constant & conductivity of a dielectric material. Depending on the relative dielectric constant & conductivity of a dielectric material, the reflection or transmission signal changes in terms of it's amplitude and spread. This property can be utilized to estimate the relative dielectric constant of a dielectric material. First, software implementation was carried out for feasibility analysis. In the next step, Hw/Sw co-design implementation was proposed to overcome the limitations of software implementation of ANN. These approaches are discussed and validated using FDTD simulation.","PeriodicalId":192784,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127589131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These systems benefit firstly the grid by improving the reliability of the supply and secondly the owners through revenue earning. However, PV systems without energy storage are intermittent power sources. As a result they bring about some new issues to the utility, particularly as the penetration levels of renewable energy systems all over the power system continue to increase. Technical requirements from both PV system and grid side need to be fulfilled to maintain the reliability of the power system. The method consists of an analytical procedure for identifying a set of switching angles capable of eliminating the desired harmonics and a graphical analysis tool allowing the identification of all valid solutions. Because of their industrial interest, relatively complex 5-level inverters have been considered, however the proposed method can be easily extended to a higher number of levels, too.
