Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of pilosebaceous follicles with multifactorial causes and clinical manifestations of blackheads, papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. Magnesium plays a role in increasing skin hydration, increasing skin permeability, barrier repair, and facilitating skin proliferation and epidermal differentiation to reduce inflammation. Hypomagnesium is thought to increase inflammation and affect androgen hormones, especially testosterone, which plays a role in increasing the hyperactivity of the sebaceous glands in the pathogenesis of Acne Vulgaris. Purpose: To determine the difference in magnesium levels in each severity degree of acne vulgaris, namely mild, moderate, and severe. Method: This study is an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique is purposive sampling with a total sample of 30 people. Data retrieval in this study was carried out using photo taking of three sides of the face (front, right oblique, left oblique). Then proceed with a three cc venous blood draw to measure magnesium levels in the blood. Results: This study found a significant difference between magnesium levels and the severity of acne vulgaris with a value of p = 0.032 (p <0.05). Magnesium levels in severe acne vulgaris were higher than moderate and mild acne vulgaris. However, magnesium levels in all samples were still within the normal range. There was a moderate positive correlation between the two variables with a p-value = 0.016 (p <0.05). Conclusion: There was a significant difference between magnesium levels and the severity of acne vulgaris, and there is a moderate positive correlation between magnesium levels and the severity of acne vulgaris, which means that the higher the magnesium level, the more severe the degree of acne vulgaris.","PeriodicalId":192353,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Widya Medika Junior","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134107976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The caregiver can experience burden during caring for dependent elderly. The burden can affect caregiver’s quality of life. Objectives: to measure and test the correlation between dependent elderly’s caregiver burden and quality of life in Klitren Kampong, Gondokusuman District, Yogyakarta Municipality. Materials and Methods: The subjects were primary informal caregivers aged ≥ 18 years with good cognitive functions who caring for the elders with ADL score <12. Respondents were selected using consecutive sampling technique. This is a quantitative research with cross-sectional study design. Zarit Burden Interview and Caregiver Reaction Assessment were used to assessing caregiver’s burden. WHO Quality of Life-BREF was used to assess caregiver’s quality of life. Data was analysed using spearman’s rank correlation. Results: There were 21 female study subjects. In each of the CRA and ZBI domains, the caregivers’ burden tend to be low (mean=8.63±10.730–72.42±10.983). Caregivers’ quality of life tend to be low (mean=49.76±11.962–60.76±11.726). Every process of wound healing always leaves a scar. Hypertrophic and keloid is a product of abnormal wound healing. This abnormal scar formation is influenced by several factors, one of which is the \u0000wound stress. A tension that is too large in a wound will cause a hypoxic state in the wound itself. This hypoxic state will cause recurrent inflammation which leads to abnormal scar formation. One of abnormal scars formation prevention is reduction in wound tension. History of tuberculosis contact has consequences for TB infection. Density of occupancy may also accelerate TB transmission. Tuberculin test is a screening method that can detect TB infection. However, BCG immunization can reduce the specificity of tuberculin test results because it causes false positive results. Aim: The aim of this study is to see the relationship between history of TB contact and tuberculin test results. Other variables related to tuberculin test results were also examined i.e. occupancy density and incidence of BCG immunization. Methods: This research was conducted with cross-sectional analytic design using contingency coefficient test with a value of ɑ = 0.1. TB contacts subjects were taken from Surabaya Pulmonary Hospital and non-TB contacts subjects were volunteers from Medical Faculty of Widya Mandala Catholic University volunteers and Medical Faculty of Wijaya Kusuma. Each group consisted of 25 people taken using consecutive sampling technique. There is a significant correlation between history of tuberculosis contact and tuberculin test (p = 0,000); There is no significant correlation between BCG immunization history and tuberculin test results (p = 0.221) Result: There is a significant correlation between occupancy density and tuberculin test results (p = 0.066).
