Usually, the heat exchangers used for industrial applications are large in size. The objective of this study is to reduce the size of the heat exchanger and increasing the effectiveness by using suitable materials. The present study is carried out on a concentric tube heat exchanger with rectangular fins arranged around the circumference of the tube. The initial simulation is carried out to find the best material among aluminum bronze and Al 6061. The study is further continued to find the best inlet conditions by varying the mass flow rate from 0.25 kg/s to 3 kg/s in 0.25 kg/s increments and inlet temperature from 80°C to 90°C in 5°C increments. Cold water flow conditions, such as mass flow rate of 1.5 kg/s and inlet temperature of 30°C, are constant throughout the study. The heat exchanger was modeled in SOLIDWORKS 2020. The flow simulation and thermal analysis were carried out in SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation 2020. The simulation results and the actual prototype results showed a variation of 4.2%.","PeriodicalId":191914,"journal":{"name":"i-manager's Journal on Mechanical Engineering","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117291371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Air is used as the working fluid, and in addition, water and oil are used in the parametric study. The competition between heat transfer enhancement and entropy generation has been addressed. Comparison between entropy generation profiles for different passage widths and shapes have been reported. It is found that mass flow rate and inlet fluid temperature have a considerable impact on entropy generation and hence on heat transfer enhancement. The findings show that the narrowing passage consumes more pump power to overcome viscous dissipation. Regarding the channel shape, it was found that the rectangular channel has the highest Bejan number (Be), while the circular spiral channel requires more pump power than the others. The data obtained indicate that the selection of the most suitable configuration and the best flow conditions becomes a critical task. Also, secondary flow due to centrifugal force and curvature has a significant effect on increasing heat transfer and entropy generation.","PeriodicalId":191914,"journal":{"name":"i-manager's Journal on Mechanical Engineering","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133276623","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The nozzle geometry comprised a convergent angle of 45 °and a divergent angle of 15 °. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations were conducted to analyze the behavior of the flow within the C-D nozzle under varying inlet Mach parameters ranging from 2 to 5. The stream characteristics inside the nozzle were analyzed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. This study examined crucial parameters such as maximum pressure, minimum pressure, maximum velocity, and outlet Mach number, which are essential for understanding the behavior and performance of the flow. Fluent software, which is a well-established computational fluid dynamics tool, was used to conduct simulations and analyze the flow characteristics. The results obtained shed light on the behavior of the fluid flow and provide valuable insights into the performance of the C-D nozzle at different inlet Mach parameters. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the C-D nozzle performance and its applications in various engineering fields, such as aerospace and propulsion systems. These findings may have significant implications for optimizing nozzle design and enhancing overall system efficiency.","PeriodicalId":191914,"journal":{"name":"i-manager's Journal on Mechanical Engineering","volume":"84 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116470602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the process, however, undesired vibrations and shocks on the drill strings are invariably experienced, and this has a detrimental impact on the equipment. To get a full understanding of the origins and characteristics of this dysfunction, a generalized lumped-parameter model of the drill string system is studied to provide a deeper understanding of the drillstring dynamics and bit mechanics. The torsional stick-slip vibration phenomenon focuses on analyzing the source of vibration excitation, which is primarily the nonlinear bit-rock fictional interaction. The impact of various parameters such as the weight on the bit, rotational speed, and damping on the severity of vibration, in particular stick-slip vibration, is further analyzed. The simulation results highlight the significance of the key factors for stick-slip onset and severity. These controllable factors can be used to eliminate stick-slip while avoiding other undesirable effects, achieving optimum performance. Further research will be done on multi-stability analysis to define the optimum operation zones and design of vibration reduction tools and control strategies.","PeriodicalId":191914,"journal":{"name":"i-manager's Journal on Mechanical Engineering","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122037415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reservoir's developed stress allows the rocks to fracture naturally. The developed fractures across the reservoir blocks enhance the gas flow from the reservoir towards the wellbore. This review paper provides a comprehensive overview of the technologies and engineering of shale formation permeability behavior and the impact of induced stress and strain. The impacts of stress and strain on the permeability of shale are also studied.
