That is to say, which allows each of the elements to be improved separately and then interconnected through the ForCES protocol, even in remote locations. The Control Element (CE) is the logical entity that is part of the control plane and is responsible for managing Forwarding Elements (FE) of the data plane. The ForCES architecture allows you to see these two elements (the CE and the FE through the ForCES protocol) as a single Network Element (NE), even if they are located in remote sites each. To demonstrate this principle, a network testbed scenario was implemented, based on two Local Area Networks (LAN). The LAN 1, for the CEs and the LAN 2 for the FEs, once communicated through the ForCES protocol, the different LFBs configurations of the ARP, SNMP, RIP protocols were used to demonstrate their operation.","PeriodicalId":190994,"journal":{"name":"Netw. The algorithm seeks to achieve the largest energy savings subject to reaching a minimum speech quality under the prevailing network conditions. The control mechanism used is the dynamic selection of the packet size during the communication. Three different variants of the algorithm a presented. Our proposal has been implemented in a VoIP application and experimentally validated in a testbed, and the results demonstrate that our packetization period control algorithm can provide energy savings in uncongested IEEE 802.11 networks (up to 30%). Furthermore, under poor network conditions the algorithm can prolong the duration of the call before it is dropped at the expense of a higher energy consumption during such conditions. Each variant of the algorithm provides a unique balance between keeping quality and saving energy.","PeriodicalId":190994,"journal":{"name":"Netw. Protoc. The system uses an Unmanned Ariel Vehicle (UAV) equipped with a set of sensors, microcontroller, wireless system, and other accessories. The system consists of two systems namely air quality monitoring system and water quality monitoring system. The air quality monitoring system consists of a set of gas sensors and microcontroller. This system measures the concentration of greenhouse gases at different altitudes under different environmental conditions. On the other hand, the water quality monitoring system consists of a set of water quality sensors, microcontroller, and water sampling unit. This system collects water samples from off-shore and on-shore water sources and measures water quality parameters. The present system is capable of recording the measured data in an onboard SD card. It is also able to send data to a ground monitoring unit through a wireless system. To ensure reliability in measurement the sensors are calibrated before deployment. Finally, the system is upgradable and reconfigurable. The system has been tested to measure air and water quality at different local areas. Some these measured data are also presented in this paper.","PeriodicalId":190994,"journal":{"name":"Netw. Protoc. This interactivity allows the TV providers to obtain extra information from the clients. Moreover, the clients could even take profit of this type communication to allow surfing between videos. Moreover, we will detail the protocol procedure between the TV provider and the clients. Using the benefits of Internet globally, anywhere and anytime, users can avail the benefits of accessing live and on demand video services. The streaming media systems such as YouTube, Netflix, and Apple Music are reining the multimedia world with frequent popularity among users. A key concern of quality perceived for video streaming applications over Internet is the Quality of Experience (QoE) that users go through. Due to changing network conditions, bit rate and initial delay and the multimedia file freezes or provide poor video quality to the end users, researchers across industry and academia are explored HTTP Adaptive Streaming (HAS), which split the video content into multiple segments and offer the clients at varying qualities. The video player at the client side plays a vital role in buffer management and choosing the appropriate bit rate for each such segment of video to be transmitted. A higher bit rate transmitted video pauses in between whereas, a lower bit rate video lacks in quality, requiring a tradeoff between them. The need of the hour was to adaptively varying the bit rate and video quality to match the transmission media conditions. Further, The main aim of this paper is to give an overview on the state of the art HAS techniques across multimedia and networking domains. A detailed survey was conducted to analyze challenges and solutions in adaptive streaming algorithms, QoE, network protocols, buffering and etc. It also focuses on various challenges on QoE influence factors in a fluctuating network condition, which are often ignored in present HAS methodologies. Furthermore, this survey will enable network and multimedia researchers a fair amount of understanding about the latest happenings of adaptive streaming and the necessary improvements that can be incorporated in future developments.","PeriodicalId":190994,"journal":{"name":"Netw. Real-time services need to high Quality of Service (QoS). For this purpose, bandwidth reservation and packet prioritization techniques are used. Thus, real-time data packets can be reached to their targets with minimum delays and losses. But, this situation creates unintended consequences for other internet services such as HTTP and FTP. In this case, establishing a balance between the real-time services and the other services is a must. In this study we introduce a new research question: how to transport real-time multimedia IP packets just in time? Just in time means that transportation of the packets neither early, nor late. For this purpose we developed a scheduling/prioritizing algorithm called just in time transport (JITT). Following a cross-layer design approach, JITT controls delay and jitter over whole communication path. We evaluated JITT on the different simulations and one experimental testbed for performance analysis. Our findings support that JITT provides stable delay and low jitter and transports the packets nearly just in time.","PeriodicalId":190994,"journal":{"name":"Netw. Protoc. Body Area Networks (BANs), a subset of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), can deliver vital signs of patients to physician by collecting and analysis of patients' data and with applying different types of medical sensors. In this paper, a new link aware and energy efficient routing algorithm is introduced. In this algorithm, packets are divided into two categories: high-priority and low-priority packets and used for efficient next hop selection node. Selecting the next hop node based on the parameters such as the number of hops, delay and path loss is carried out. Results of simulation show that proposed algorithm improve average energy consumption and throughput compared to the similar routing algorithm.","PeriodicalId":190994,"journal":{"name":"Netw. Protoc. However, with technology advancement, cloud computing has become more and more powerful as well as more adaptive in various business sectors. However, with the increase in number of users, there is also an increase in the security threats affecting the users’ privacy, personal data, identity and confidentiality. In this paper, we have aimed at categorizing security and privacy threats based on the kind of usage of cloud.
