The reducing trend of RGR and increasing rate of Dt in both publications and citations indicates that the growth is neither exponential nor linear. The size of the literature was calculated by applying logistic growth formula.","PeriodicalId":190905,"journal":{"name":"Library science with a slant to documentation and information studies","volume":"359 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114081702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The author discusses in this paper how reading materials have become obsolete over the years due to changes in thought content, language, style of presentation and usage of new terminologies and deterioration in physical body or document carrier. The continuous activity of research by various scientists/technologists have resulted in new discoveries and disproving the old theories. It is also brought out that language could contribute to obsolescence of reading materials apart from deterioration in document carrier.","PeriodicalId":190905,"journal":{"name":"Library science with a slant to documentation and information studies","volume":"654 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117111295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The subject analysis reveals that the doctoral programmes are oriented towards practice. The lopsided development results in the stagnation of theoretical base of the discipline.
