Peri-implantitis is an inflammatory process that distracts the tissue around the implant and causes bone loss, leading to failure of the dental implant [1]. Dental implant failures can be divided into early and late failures depending on whether they occur before or at the time of abutment connection surgery or after occlusal loading by prosthetic restoration [2,3]. Re-osseointegration or bone regeneration at the implant body is difficult when bone has been absorbed and infection has penetrated around the complicated surface structure of the implant [4]. However, an effective treatment for peri-implantitis has not yet been established.
