We aim to assess this issue by studying the effects of Covid-19 pandemic on the ratio of Total Deposits to TA in the Romanian banking sector in the span 2000-2022. Our findings show that Covid-19 pandemic influences significantly and positively the traditional activity of banks, depositing the savings of population. Further, we bring new insights regarding the effects of BET Index’ volatility on the Total Deposits to TA ratio. These results remain robust when we employ subcategories of deposits as dependent variables in our empirical models (e.g., households deposits, deposits granted to non-financial corporations, deposits granted to financial corporations, and deposits granted to government).","PeriodicalId":190185,"journal":{"name":"Virgil Madgearu Review of Economic Studies and Research","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126413426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Researchers tend to place more emphasis on finding a foldable statistical model, and practitioners show a preference for reviewing reports. All these efforts have as a common aim the accurate market price for users which must be correctly informed. Thus, there is a lot of research on statistical models in the research area, and in valuation, there is more information on the market value accuracy and its reassurance by reviewing the reports. In this paper, the two opinions of researchers and practitioners meet and provide us with information that the two parts can use in the future. It also helps valuation reports users to distinguish between a correct or distorted value. Users can have more confidence in reports and professionals due to their knowledge of theory and practice.","PeriodicalId":190185,"journal":{"name":"Virgil Madgearu Review of Economic Studies and Research","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122197194","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, despite the support given to partnerships between organizations, critics question their effectiveness and the economic endeavours to stimulate local development are contested. Consequently, our study seeks to investigate what are the economic and organizational conditions that influence consideration when joining a local partnership but also the main constraints and individual motivation to develop cooperative behaviour. The analysis shows that while there is openness in creating or developing joint ventures, the availability of financial resources, lack of strategic planning, lack of communication and trust are factors that can have significant influence on the effectiveness of the partnership and consequently on its contribution to the local development.","PeriodicalId":190185,"journal":{"name":"Virgil Madgearu Review of Economic Studies and Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129148048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The potential use of international transfer pricing as an income shift by multinational enterprises has long been recognized. Many tax-related scandals have been made public in the past few years involving some of the major multinational enterprises at this time. These were accused of practicing tax avoidance on an industrial scale by shifting profits to lower-tax jurisdictions through transfer pricing techniques. Multinational enterprises perform intra-firm transactions with foreign related parties to shift taxable profits by manipulating internal transfer prices. This bibliometric review of the literature we proposed aimed to summarize existing research, recognize patterns, problems, and identify the conceptual content of the field, contributing to the existing theory.","PeriodicalId":190185,"journal":{"name":"Virgil Madgearu Review of Economic Studies and Research","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124490944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interaction between earnings management and development cost capitalization is mentioned and the underlying factors, such as beating earnings benchmarks and meeting debt-covenants are discussed. In a nutshell, the trade-off between the additional informativeness offered to investors through signaling and the probability of managerial opportunistic behavior is debated. The results indicate that some degree of opportunism exists, intending mainly to beat analysts’ earnings forecasts. However, the market participants tend to identify such behaviors and thus adapt their equity price valuations. Also, the market value relevance varies depending on the entities’ origin, previous intangible project success or failure track record and intangible asset intensity.","PeriodicalId":190185,"journal":{"name":"Virgil Madgearu Review of Economic Studies and Research","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122001731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper further examined career management and professional development programmes UNHCR offers to refugees to make recommendations to improve them in alignment with organizational and refugees’ needs. Semi-structured interviews were used in the qualitative research, the study population consisted of 18 individuals. Key findings suggest that UNHCR’s employment and education programmes are in high demand among the refugee community and they contribute to personal development and capacity building. However, by improving them and providing additional opportunities, the organization could make even better use of refugees’ skills and develop them to ensure their career growth. Moreover, the UN Refugee agency should serve as a good example for companies and organizations in employing and training forcibly displaced people.","PeriodicalId":190185,"journal":{"name":"Virgil Madgearu Review of Economic Studies and Research","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124576852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the current context of the European Union, it is important to analyze to what extent the objectives of the European Cohesion Policy are fulfilled in Romania. In this sense, the aim of the research is to identify, through the analysis of experts’ opinions, the single factors that are decisive for the success or failure of the funding programs. Moreover, there is a unified conclusion that both the internal project environment, defined by the relationship between consultant and beneficiary, and the external legal and procedural framework at European and regional level should be improved for a better achievement of objectives. The results are useful both for current and potential beneficiaries of European funding, but also for consultants, regional officials of development agencies and authorities at European level, as they provide a dissection and analysis of the dynamics between the involved stakeholders.","PeriodicalId":190185,"journal":{"name":"Virgil Madgearu Review of Economic Studies and Research","volume":"504 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123566146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use the genetic distance index and regress it against the foreign bias measure on pairs from 40 countries on a time period from 2001-2016. We identify that the prior exerts a significant impact on foreign investment decision, even when controlling for previous documented determinants of foreign bias. These findings reflect that international portfolio allocation is obstructed by the cultural wedge created between source and destination country, since relative difference in these characteristics disturb the flow of equity investments across markets, which ultimately hinder diversification.","PeriodicalId":190185,"journal":{"name":"Virgil Madgearu Review of Economic Studies and Research","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127621117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
