It observed the use of PjBL as a student-centered learning method to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills required for the changing needs of the job market. Empirical research in Indonesia demonstrates that PjBL improves students' collaboration, communication, and interpersonal abilities. The implementation of PjBL in Politeknik Negeri Padang (PNP) Indonesia follows a structured approach categorized into small, medium, and large-scale projects, integrating various subjects and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among students. Similarly, in Malaysia, PjBL supports efforts to restructure TVET to satisfy industrial demands, particularly at institutions such as Kolej Komuniti Selayang (KKSY) and Politeknik Sultan Idris Shah (PSIS). The Malaysian model stresses regular review and weekly assessment of student projects, with the goal of improving students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovative skills. However, there are significant variances in the evaluation time and the duration of project application between Indonesia and Malaysia. Overall, the comparative analysis offers insight on the changing pedagogical approaches in TVET schools in Indonesia and Malaysia, highlighting the importance of PjBL in preparing students to face the recent globalized workforce.","PeriodicalId":187881,"journal":{"name":"European Modern Studies Journal","volume":"270 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140763885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In line with other sub-Saharan African nations, Guinea has witnessed a surge in rice consumption, driven by various factors, particularly the significant energy challenges it faces, compounded by the fact that approximately 70% of its population lacks access to electricity. The prevalent reliance on firewood for boiling paddy rice has significantly contributed to deforestation, as there is a growing demand for fuelwood and various forms of wood fuel for energy. This study seeks to explore the reasons behind the reluctance of people to embrace climate action with solar-powered parboiling rice machines (SPPRM). It also aims to identify the underlying causes of this disinterest. Based on the conducted survey, a total of 500 residents in the Basse-Guin?e region were sampled, revealing that a significant majority (92%) of the respondents are already aware of the environmental impacts associated with their daily cooking activities. The results further indicate that approximately 25% of the respondents were unable to adopt new machine technology due to a lack of government consumption subsidies, while the remaining 45% cited a lack of access to new machines as the primary hindrance. Consequently, the study concludes that, despite the potential benefits that could arise from adopting SPPRM for sustainable development, financial barriers and limited access to the machines pose significant challenges for the respondents.","PeriodicalId":187881,"journal":{"name":"European Modern Studies Journal","volume":" 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139142783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A recent study conducted in the municipality of Victoria, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines aimed to evaluate the utilization of climate and weather forecasts in farm operations. The study collected primary data through a household survey using a structured questionnaire, with a total of 324 randomly selected respondents based on Cochran's formula. The findings of the study revealed that a significant majority of farmers, approximately 85%, are aware of climate change. This awareness is heightened by their perception of long-term changes in climate, particularly in rainfall patterns. Farmers recognize and acknowledge the impact of climate change on their agricultural practices. When it comes to obtaining information about weather and climate, the study found that television is the primary source for most farmers. This highlights the importance of broadcasting accurate and timely weather forecasts to ensure farmers stay informed and prepared. Furthermore, the study discovered that weather and seasonal climate forecasts, along with long-term climate projections, significantly influence various farm operations. These operations include the selection of rice varieties, timing of seed sowing, application of fertilizers and pesticides, water management, harvesting and storage, and even selling decisions. The reliance on science-based information is crucial for farmers as traditional knowledge alone is no longer reliable in the face of changing climate conditions. Based on the study's results, it is evident that farmers in Victoria, Oriental Mindoro, require access to science-based knowledge, particularly accurate weather and climate forecasts. The study emphasizes the need for reliable information and other agricultural-related climate services provided by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Such services can significantly contribute to improving decision-making processes at the farm level.","PeriodicalId":187881,"journal":{"name":"European Modern Studies Journal","volume":" 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139143467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These short breaks, beneficial for memory, aid students in better-recalling information. According to Ritter (2007), the average person's mind tends to wander 15-20% of the time. Among various time management techniques, this experiment aims to determine the Pomodoro Technique's efficacy specifically for memory retention. Understanding memory's crucial role in academic performance, this study aims to address the technique's relevance to students' learning outcomes. The research experiment involves 75 participants from 1st year and 2nd year students at a university in Quezon City, Philippines; the participants were divided into experimental and control groups. The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the Pomodoro Technique in enhancing memory retention. Time management is pivotal for students, yet procrastination persists as a challenge affecting various aspects of life. The results indicated that the technique did not yield a statistically significant effect on memory retention. It is essential to note that these findings may be influenced by factors such as time restrictions and other variables faced by both researchers and participants, warranting further exploration into the different aspects of the Pomodoro Technique’s application in academic settings.","PeriodicalId":187881,"journal":{"name":"European Modern Studies Journal","volume":"4 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139157782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concept of health-promoting university urges higher education institutions to integrate health promotion into their culture and processes. To identify strategies that will create healthy campuses, studies recommend assessing first the health promotion behaviors of students. This study determined to what extent college students at a university in the Sultanate of Oman engage in health-promoting lifestyle behaviors. A descriptive cross-sectional investigation of 400 college students was conducted using the “Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II” questionnaire. Institutional ethical approval was granted. Results indicated a moderate health-promoting lifestyle profile score, with the participants showing low engagement in “health responsibility” and “physical activity”. Statistically significant variations exist between male and female, single and married participants in areas of “nutrition” and “interpersonal relations”; between age groups in areas of “health responsibility” and between types of accommodation in areas of “interpersonal relations” (p = .01). A low to moderate, positive correlation among dimensions of health-promoting lifestyle was statistically significant (p=.01). These findings suggest significant implications for the development of health and wellness programs in the university that will hopefully contribute to the realization of a goal to develop into a health-promoting university.","PeriodicalId":187881,"journal":{"name":"European Modern Studies Journal","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139159118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
