The Amazon Echo and its intelligent personal assistant, “Alexa”, is a leading innovation in this area. This novel research examines aspects of trust and privacy relating to personal use of the Echo. It aims to demonstrate the types of data that may be vocally extracted from a selection of the multitude of applications that may be linked to the Echo. In the era of Voice IoT, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, trust and privacy concerns are paramount for the individual. Personal data has never been more valuable, both to large reputable corporations and to criminal groups. The European Union's General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came into force in May 2018, aiming to protect the privacy of personal data of EU citizens. This has further highlighted the trust issues stemming from this technological medium. This paper demonstrates that a typically configured Echo device can prove to be a vulnerable channel by which personal information may be accessed. Where no safeguards are implemented, a plethora of data including personal identifiable information and personal health information is available from the device. Data exposure by simple vocal request leaves the system vulnerable to inquisition by any unauthorized individual who is within “ear shot” of the device. The research explores the extent to which these risks can be reduced or mitigated, offering a set of recommendations aimed at building trust and preserving user privacy, while still enabling functionality of the device. Trust and privacy are based on a triad of shared responsibility. While the GDPR enforces trust between the voice service providers and the consumers, adherence to these recommendations will empower individuals to trust against privacy breaches from local sources.","PeriodicalId":187178,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134438274","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed antenna is based on isosceles triangular DRA (TDRA), which is fed from the base side using a 50Ω probe. For bandwidth enhancement and radiation characteristics improvement, a partially cylindrical-shape hole is etched from its base side which approached probe feed to the center of TDRA. The dielectric resonator (DR) is located over an extended conducting ground plane. This technique has significantly enhanced antennas bandwidth from 48.8% to 80% (5.29-12.35 GHz), while the biggest problem was radiation characteristics. The basis antenna possesses negative gain in a wide range of bandwidth from 7.5 GHz to 10.5 GHz down to −13.8 dBi. Using this technique improve antenna gain over 1.6 dBi for whole bandwidth, while peak gain is 7.2 dBi.","PeriodicalId":187178,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132964866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although, many real-life applications need a classifier that deals with limited size data sets appropriately. A considerable interest is focused on how to achieve a reasonable classification performance for small data sets. Current works focus on either enhancing classification algorithms or enlarging the data sets, these solutions have limitations such as increasing the computational time, or reaching data sets that do not reflect the actual population of the real data. However, this research looks at the problem from a different angel, it aims to address the data quantity issue by identifying the most appropriate classifier for small data sets using three well-known classifiers which are Decision tree (J48), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Naïve Bayes. Extensive experiments are conducted to examine the performance in terms of four different measures which are accuracy, f-measure, sensitivity and specificity. We used six small data sets from UCI repository with different attributes and instances sizes. Results revealed that SVM accomplished the best performance along most of the used data sets.","PeriodicalId":187178,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114366734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a smart school bus service information system is inevitable within the context of smart city features. The mobile application makes it smarter for kids/students using their school services; also, parents can easily track their kids' buses. In addition, bus service companies can easily register new students and determine the routes of the school buses dynamically. The system provides scalability, flexibility, low cost, security, and reliability. All shared location information and users' private data are stored encrypted; the parents may receive information about their related buses only. The system is based on both web and mobile platforms and it is implemented as an interactive application.","PeriodicalId":187178,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125248921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, the need for taking care of patients while they are at home is essential. Internet of Things (IoT) has been widely used in different areas such as healthcare and smart homes. IoT will assist in minimizing the hospital burden of frequent patients' visits. Applying IoT in healthcare will improve the efficiency and effectiveness, bring economic benefits, and reduce human exertions. It is well known that the best health monitoring system is able to detect abnormalities and able to make diagnosis without human exertion. However, this kind of system is dealing with health conditions which are essential and sensitive that require high accuracy to be reliable. This paper presents an Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring framework that overcome the accuracy limitation. Signal processing and feature extraction are applied. For the diagnosis purpose a classification stage is made in two ways; threshold values and machine learning to increase the accuracy. Experiment results reveal that the proposed model is more accurate in the diagnosis of heart diseases than other researches which makes it more confident to rely on from health experts point of view.","PeriodicalId":187178,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124946905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, it gets difficult for CDNs to adhere to the delay promises within the Service Level Agreements. This paper presents a jitter-free overlay routing framework for CDNs, which struggle to adapt timely content delivery to end users due to the dynamicity of the Internet. The Nearest Origin-Shield (NOS) framework which we propose in this paper overcomes this issue by creating an overlay network on top of the existing physical ISP networks and dynamically determining the fastest routes to the content sources (Origins) on this overlay network. NOS keeps track of changes in underlay network through periodically measuring the end-to-end routing paths delays via Helper Modules. Based on the underlay network delay measures and the load (i.e., CPU, disk I/O and network usage) of the overlay network entities, NOS Central Module determines the fastest routes to the Origins using our novel Delay-Aware and Jitter-Free Overlay Routing Algorithm. Hence making it possible for CDNs to provide jitter-free and timely content deliveries meanwhile ensuring the cache servers not to be overloaded. We created a new testbed for performance evaluations with real CDN servers, Origin accounts and measurements. Results show that, NOS provides shorter, more stable and jitter-free routing paths with jitter gains up to 98 % and improves the Hit ratio by 0.74%.","PeriodicalId":187178,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126361916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the redundancy and heterogeneity of executives, their response times differ. In order to mitigate the Bucket Effect on the response time of heterogeneous executives in the existing mimic defense methods, this paper proposes a method based on feedback control model that executive source allocation is adjusted dynamically to improve the response time of the executive set. The comparative experiment shows that this scheduling strategy has a great improvement in response process time, comparing with the existing scheduling strategy.","PeriodicalId":187178,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132972162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this causes serious problems such as scalability, availability and single point of failure. To overcome these problems, researchers have introduced distributed controllers as an initial solution. Nevertheless, we still have to deal with load distribution and fault issues among multiple controllers. In this paper, we propose a load balancing and Fault tolerance (LBFT) method for distributed controllers by using group migration of switches. The proposed method detects the failure of the master controller and try to migrate its connected switches to slave controllers. Meanwhile, it also tries to balance the loads among controllers. Our experimental results show that our approach not only can balance the loads among controllers, but also can re-optimize the overall throughput in short amount of time after failure. Furthermore, the failover process takes around 50 ms. Our method prolongs a little end to end RTT, and also there is no packet loss. Our proposed method can be implemented and run as a module on top of any controller.","PeriodicalId":187178,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133201979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
