This study investigated the removal of Cr (VI), the most mobile and toxic species, using coffee husk biosorption from aqueous solutions. Coffee husk was characterized using Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis. The effects of pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, effect of KNO3 concentration, and temperature during the adsorption of Cr (VI) were studied. Infrared spectral studies revealed the presence of functional groups, such as hydroxyl and carboxyl groups, which facilitated the biosorption of Cr (VI). The maximum adsorption capacity reached 87 % at pH~2. Moreover, maximum adsorption capacity of Cr (VI) onto coffee husk 0.660 mg g-1 was recorded after 60 min of using 40 mg L-1 of Cr (VI) with no addition of KNO3 at 40 0C. The kinetic data followed the pseudo-second-order model with regression coefficients R2 = 0.99. The equilibrium data for the adsorption of Cr (VI) onto coffee husk biosorption were fitted into Langmuir and Temkin adsorption isotherm models with R2 = 0.98 corresponding to each model. Thermodynamic studies showed that the coffee husk-Cr (VI) adsorption system was spontaneous and endothermic because negative and positive values were obtained for ΔG° and Δ°H, respectively. The coffee husk was applicable to remove Cr (VI) after three recycling and using different environmental water samples. In conclusion, coffee husk can be used effectively as an adsorption system for Cr (VI) at different polluted sites.","PeriodicalId":18713,"journal":{"name":"Modern Applied Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135824888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Airline industry can be classed as just one sector of the wider aviation industry. There are a number of services that may be done on a plane when it is parked at an airport terminal gate, and they are known as \"aircraft ground handling. The number of passengers using airports continues to rise, pushing such facilities to their maximum capacity. Without the substantial services provided by the Ground Handlers, these brick and mortar infrastructures would not be able to continue to exist. Ground Support Equipment (GSE) is an industry term that refers to support equipment typically found at an airport that is used to service the aircraft between flights. The primary goal of GSE maintenance is to deliver the holder or user with safe and operable equipment that is also presentable, while incurring as little expenses as possible and experiencing as little downtime as possible. The laws that oversee airport operations must be complied with by any maintenance programs that are begun on GSE. Introduced equipment standardization, processes standardization, parts standardization, inventory management, asset management, maintenance KPIS, life of equipment and impacts on performance and reliability. Too little maintenance may lead to expensive breakdowns, poor system performance, and reduced dependability. Regular maintenance improves dependability but raises costs.","PeriodicalId":18713,"journal":{"name":"Modern Applied Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75620484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gao, Kaihua Cui","doi":"10.5539/mas.v17n2p1","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5539/mas.v17n2p1","url":null,"abstract":"To implement the intelligence and automation of coal mines, coal recognition plays a crucial role. In order to further improve the accuracy and speed of intelligent coal recognition, this paper proposes a semantic segmentation model based on an improved PSPNET network. (1) The lightweight MobilenetV2 module is used as the backbone feature extraction network. Compared to traditional networks, it has fewer parameters while achieving higher recognition accuracy and speed.(2) The Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) is introduced into the Pyramid Pooling Module (PPM) to enhance the network's ability to extract detailed features and effectively fuse spatial and channel information, thus improving the segmentation accuracy of the model.(3) Data augmentation and image feature enhancement methods are employed to overcome sample distribution differences, enhance model generalization, and adapt to coal-rock recognition tasks in different application scenarios. The proposed approach is tested on a self-made coal segmentation dataset and compared with the unimproved PSPNET, Hernet, U-net, and DeeplabV3+ models in terms of Mean Intersection over Union (Miou), recognition accuracy, edge detail recognition, model size, and parameter count. Experimental results demonstrate that compared to other models, the improved PSPNET network not only has lower computational complexity and parameter count but also exhibits stronger coal detail feature extraction capability, higher segmentation accuracy, and better processing efficiency.Finally, the improved PSPNET model was trained and tested on a coal rock image segmentation dataset with image feature enhancement.The accuracy, MIU and MPA of the improved PSPNET network reached 65.04, 73.15 and 74.27 respectively.It can be seen that the improved network has superior feature extraction ability and computational efficiency to achieve coal surface image recognition. This verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method in the actual coal rock image recognition task.","PeriodicalId":18713,"journal":{"name":"Modern Applied Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87292652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a condition that puts constraints on the use of linguistic, cognitive, communicative, and social skills and abilities. Recently, many data mining techniques have been developed to help autism patients by discovering the main features of the condition and the correlation between them. In this paper, we employ the association classification (AC) technique as a data mining approach to predict whether or not an individual has an autism. The Intelligent Classification Based on Association rules (ICBA) algorithm is proposed for finding the correlations between the features to decide whether an individual has autism in its early stage, especially in childhood. The ICBA algorithm incorporates the chi-square method to select the best feature to make the decision, in addition to proposing new techniques in all phases and increasing number of folds to 2size of data/10. The proposed algorithm is compared against four well-known AC algorithms in terms of accuracy to evaluate their behavior in the prediction task using big data platform. The results show a better performance for the ICBA algorithm in most experiments. Moreover, all of the considered algorithms had an increased level of accuracy when the chi-square method was used.","PeriodicalId":18713,"journal":{"name":"Modern Applied Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84584609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
