Those are fatal for entire human life. Many patients cannot survive, and morbidity may happen later. An article helped to write this qualitative review of chromosomal abnormalities. The study was aimed at determining the length and width of foramen ovale in a Nigerian population. Materials and Methods: Seven dehydrated adult skulls, all the same gender, were acquired from the anatomy departments of Achievers University in Owo and Delta State University in Abraka, Nigeria. The length and the width of the foramen ovale were measured using digital sliding calipers. The paired sample t-test was used for the analysis. Results: The mean length of the foramen ovale was 0.611±0.21cm on the right side, and 0.42±0.12cm on the left side. The mean width was 0.5±0.15cm on the right side, and 0.43±0.12cm on the left side. Conclusion: Understanding the dimensions of the foramen ovale vary is crucial for neurosurgery during invasive surgical procedures like percutaneous trigeminal rhizotomy, as well as for biopsying Meckel cave lesions and cavernous sinus tumors.","PeriodicalId":187109,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Anatomy","volume":"21 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140504515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: Left Upper extremity of Asian origin male cadaver has been dissected to show four headed Bicep Brachii Muscle. Adjacent neurovascular structures as well as muscles were isolated, and their courses were observed for possible areas of compression also for anatomical variation. Result: Four headed Bicep Brachii Muscle was founded on the left upper extremity of formalin fixed Asian origin an 84-yearold male cadaver. The median nerve and brachial artery maintained their common neurovascular path. The musculocutaneous nerve passed deep to the third head of the anatomical variant before distributing its cutaneous branches as the lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerves were observed. Conclusion: The presence of a four headed Bicep Brachii Muscle in anterior compartment of upper extremity may cause neurovascular compression of the median nerve, musculocutaneous nerve, or brachial artery, resulting in peripheral nerve difficulties, so the practitioners should pay more careful to existence of this type of variation in clinical practice. Hence, these findings are very important not only for anatomical education but can also to serve as useful data for clinical diagnosis, treatment and research purpose.","PeriodicalId":187109,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Anatomy","volume":"191 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140503901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The suprascapular nerve and the suprascapular notch were dissected, and the following parameters were included in the study: presence and shaper of the notch, dimensions of the lower border of the superior transverse scapular ligament and dimensions of the notch and the dimensions of the suprascapular nerve in two directions perpendicular to each other. All measurements were performed using a digital Vernier caliper. The cross-sectional area of the suprascapular nerve was assumed to be elliptical; the area of a U-shaped notch was assumed to be semi-elliptical and the area of the triangular-shaped notch were calculated accordingly. The area of the between the various notch types and the cross-sectional area of the suprascapular nerve in the various notch types were statistically compared. The reliability of continuous measurements was analyzed using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). The suprascapular notch was present in all cases. A U-shaped notch was the most common type (22, 69%) followed by a triangular-shaped notch (10, 31%). The interobserver reliability of the suprascapular nerve and notch dimensions was excellent (ICC = 0.92 and 0.96 respectively). The cross-sectional area of the suprascapular nerve was 5.982.34 mm2 with no difference between the two body sides. The cross-sectional area of the U-shaped suprascapular notch was significantly larger than that of the V-shaped notch (19.98 5.34 mm2 versus 13.777.34 mm2, p=0.02). Correspondingly, the occupancy of the suprascapular notch by the suprascapular nerve was higher in V-shaped rather than U-shaped notches (37.199.34% versus 49.417.32%, p=0.03).","PeriodicalId":187109,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Anatomy","volume":"101 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139614677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The histological sections of liver tissue from castrated group showed ballooning degeneration, macro and micro vesicular steatosis, lobular inflammation, hydropic degeneration, cellular inflammatory of lymphocytes and acidophil bodies (Councilman Body) as compared with the control group. The orally administration of 10µl/g grape juice for 6 weeks to castrated subjects was able to restore the histological structure of liver tissue to normal structure as compared with the control group. These results suggest that the fresh extract of grape juice can exert hepatoprotective effects of castration.","PeriodicalId":187109,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Anatomy","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127711350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
