During this time there was a remarkedly low incidence of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in the infants treated with DPA. Later, our studies were replicated in other institutes in Hungary, Poland, U.S. A., India and Mexico. It is important to note that there was no intolerance or short- or long-term toxicity of the medication, in spite of the fact that in the newborn period DPA was used 10-20 times higher doses than those in adult.","PeriodicalId":186900,"journal":{"name":"Theranostics of Brain, Spine & Neural Disorders","volume":"11 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123624894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Health insurance companies have also been very restrictive in reimbursing psychiatrists for their clinical services if they do not prescribe medications for their patients’ treatment [1]. As a result, many psychiatrists have been pressured to limit their scope of practice to prescribing medications and have been labeled as prescribers as opposed to being physicians who specialize in providing comprehensive and holistic mental health treatment to patients who suffer from psychiatric conditions [2]. The purpose of this commentary is to redefine the role of psychiatrists not just as prescribers but as providers of their time honored calling as holistic healer of mental illness.","PeriodicalId":186900,"journal":{"name":"Theranostics of Brain, Spine & Neural Disorders","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134023755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
