Sayed","doi":"10.21608/mjard.2023.326029","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21608/mjard.2023.326029","url":null,"abstract":"In this research, acetone extracts from the plants Chrysanthemum morifolium ( C. morifolium ) and Convolvulus arvensis ( C. arvensis ) were tested for their antioxidant and cytotoxic properties. Total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) analyses of these extracts revealed considerable phenolic and flavonoid component concentrations. Both extracts demonstrated significant antioxidant activity as determined by the DPPH and FRAP tests, and their low IC 50 values suggested that they were capable of effectively scavenging free radicals. Numerous bioactive substances, including n-hexadecanoic acid and ç-Sitosterol in C. arvensis and Lupeol and α-Amyrin in C. morifolium , were discovered in each extract by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. These results point to the medicinal benefits associated with these plant extracts. Furthermore, cytotoxicity assessments were performed on breast cancer (MCF-7) cell lines, lung cancer (A549), and hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2). C . arvensis extract demonstrated strong cytotoxicity versus all three cell-lines, alongside IC 50 values varying from 7.10 µg/mL to 12.63 µg/mL. C . morifolium extract also displayed cytotoxic effects, with IC values of 51.57 µg/mL, > 100 µg/mL, and 107.10 µg/mL for the respective cell lines. These results highlight the potential of C. morifolium and C. arvensis extracts as sources of bioactive substances with cytotoxic and antioxidant activities. Suggesting their utility in the development of novel pharmaceuticals, particularly in the context of cancer treatment. This research highlights the importance of medicinal plants in the quest for new therapeutic agents.","PeriodicalId":18575,"journal":{"name":"Minia Journal of Agricultural Research and Development","volume":" 44","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138619605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Giza111. The preceding crop was wheat, which was ridge-planted in both seasons. The obtained indicated that full-tillage improved all examined parameters of soybean (plant height, branches number, number of pods per plant, 100 seeds weight, seed yield /plant and /fed., and straw yield/fed.) comparing to no-till system in both seasons. Plant population at a rate of 140000 plant/fed. gained the highest values of branches per plant, pods number per plant and 100 seed weight, while the heaviest seed yield/plant. As well as seed and straw yields per feddan were recorded with 186666 plant/fed. in both seasons. Plants received Select super 500 ml/fed. (35 DAS) plus Basagran 750 ml/fed. (50 DAS) produced the tallest plants, the highest number of pods/plant and 100 seed weight, however, the heaviest yields either of seeds or straw were recorded with Select super 250 ml/fed. (35 DAS) plus Basagran 750 ml/fed. (50 DAS). It could be concluded that for the best productivity of soybean, it should be to adapt full-tillage system, with plant density of 186666 plants/fed. and treated the plants with Select super 250 ml/fed. The most prevalent hydroxyl cinnamic acid in plants is ferulic acid, which is 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy cinnamic acid. It demonstrates a wide range of biological activity that can be utilized as a substrate for the synthesis of chlorogenic acid. The current study aimed to evaluate the accumulation of ferulic acid and antioxidant capacity in response to ABA and PEG and mimic the draught stress, in the in vitro culture of Gardenia jasmonides Variegata. Different concentrations of abscisic acid (ABA) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) (MW: 4000–6000) were applied individually in the culture medium of Gardenia jasmonide Variegata callus cultures to evaluate their effects on the growth as well as the ferulic acid content and antioxidant capacity. The results showed that maximum values for growth indicators (fresh and dry weight) at the fourth week of culturing (9.524 and 0.446 g, respectively) with the addition of 5 g/l PEG (M.W. 6000). As for ferulic acid, PEG (M.W. 6000) at 7.5 g/l gave 2.708","PeriodicalId":18575,"journal":{"name":"Minia Journal of Agricultural Research and Development","volume":"358 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139012875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Foraging behavior is not useful only for feeding the colony by collecting the nectar and pollens but for plant pollination and other benefits. Bee pollen is good food product with nutritional profile and therapeutic benefits. This study aimed to evaluate the relation between foraging activity and storing pollens. Ten honey bee colonies located in Faculty of agriculture apiary at Minia region at seasons 2018/2019 and 2019/2020. Data showed positive relation between foraging bees activity and stored pollen area also, the highest foraging bees activity and stored pollen area was recorded in summer and spring season and the lowest in autumn and winter. Data showed that the highest mean foraging bees (53.64 and 37.56 bees) in August and July (summer season). On the other hand, results showed that the highest of mean pollen area (128.4 and 131 inch 2 ) in June month in summer season.
