Bioinspired computing is a field devoted to handle complex problems using computational methods to model and design principle problems encountered by nature. The bio inspired computing deals with databases related to biomedical nature where databases usually comprise on the principles of biology to store and retrieve huge information from large and complex biological databases. Disseminating information from such databases can be crucial for future medical research. Often this data can be patient-specific, and therefore requires the privacy should be maintained. We propose in this paper a way for secure access of data in these databases using CAPTCHA. The CAPTCHA help in ensuring that the access of data is by a real human being not by a computer or program.","PeriodicalId":185493,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Research Advancement","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132905706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is accomplished by convolving a sequence of impulses with a desired system command to produce a shaped input which is used to drive the system. In this research, methodologies for designing the impulse sequence for five different schools of input shapers including negative shaper, for a standard second order system are presented. Simulations evaluate their performance both in absence and presence of parametric uncertainties in the system. A conglomerate of three performance measures has been used for analysis of each shaper, namely, peak value, rise time and percentage peak overshoot (PPO). The robustness of each of them is also studied for different level of uncertainty in system dynamics e.g. natural frequency and damping ratio of the system. Semi analytical results show an increase in shaper robustness with increase in impulse length, albeit, with a delayed system response. Observations suggest the shapers to be more robust to variation in plant damping ratio as compared to a similar variation system natural frequency.","PeriodicalId":185493,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Research Advancement","volume":"3014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127464017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two models of serially concatenated codes are simulated and tested over AWGN channel using Mat lab simulations. The first model uses Reed-Solomon (RS) code as outer encoder and Recursive convolution code (RSC) as inner one & decoding is performed by concatenation of Viterbi decoder & Berklelamp-Massey decoder. The second model uses Concatenation of Recursive systematic convolution codes (RSC) as outer and inner codes with the help of interleaver. For decoding of RSC-RSC system, we have proposed & implemented a non-iterative decoding scheme which includes two Viterbi decoders in concatenation with de-interleaver. We show that the performance of RSC-RSC concatenated code is better than RS-RSC concatenated code in terms of bit error rate (BER).","PeriodicalId":185493,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Research Advancement","volume":"237 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115504566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Factors affecting the performance of a boiler and their interactions are evaluated using the diagraph and matrix method. Variable Performance Function (VPF) or performance index is obtained for the boiler from the attribute matrix. This performance function/ index value is used to rank and compare the factors which affect the efficiency of a boiler. In the present paper the factors affecting the boiler performance which have been taken into consideration are losses due to unburned fuel, heat loss by unburned carbon monoxide, losses due to sensible heat of the flue gases and ambient air temperature.","PeriodicalId":185493,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Research Advancement","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116172177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Normally in these schemes, since cross-correlation has a minimum value but not zero, if the number of users increases at a time, there is degradation in the quality of the received signal. Chaotic sequences have good correlation properties and they can be used as address sequences in spread spectrum communication. Chaotic sequences are uncorrelated when their initial values are different. In chaotic spread spectrum systems, different user may be assigned different sequences generated with different initial conditions. Chaotic functions are highly sensitive to initial condition, exhibit non-linear behavior. The investigation deals with generation of chaotic discrete and binary sequences using different chaotic maps like Logistic map, Tent map and Cubic map, study of autocorrelation and cross correlation properties of such sequences and their suitability in CDMA.","PeriodicalId":185493,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Research Advancement","volume":"3 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117229740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has potentially enormous emotional and socio-economic consequences. Patients suffering from neuromuscular injuries like stroke often benefit from rehabilitation. The involvement of human beings is a challenging job because it is a time-consuming and labour-intensive process. Researchers are now looking for application of robots especially exoskeleton robots in rehabilitation. This paper enumerates the use of robotics in the field of rehabilitation. Present focus of research is in the area of active powered exoskeleton robots especially surface electromyogram (sEMG) controlled ones. In this paper, we restrict our discussion to sEMG based control scheme only as EMG signals provide rich motor control information from which the user's intention can be detected, thereby making EMG the most suited approach for designing exoskeleton robots. Usually exoskeleton robots are worn by patients with disabilities, hence their control should be as efficient as possible so as to closely mimic natural human motion. This consideration makes the implementation of sEMG exoskeleton robots very challenging. We review the various sEMG based control schemes which are presently employed in designing exoskeleton robots in rehabilitation of stroke patients and discuss the challenges faced in these schemes.","PeriodicalId":185493,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Research Advancement","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124507327","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Body bias control sense amplifier is capable of high-speed pre-charging with little increase in power dissipation. Body bias control sense amplifier also controls body bias voltages of pre-charge transistors rather than in a conventional CLSA. Also we find that sensing time of body bias control sense amplifier is less as it depends upon threshold voltage. We also verify the various result like Slew Rate, Power consumption, Voltage Gain, Offset Voltage Sensitivity at 180 nano meter technology for both type of sense amplifier. From these result we see that when Vdd increases circuit ability to avoid the noise increases but power consumption also increases and accordingly current consumption increases. Simulation result shows that speed of Sense Amplifier decreases but interesting improvement in current consumption is obtained. Sensitivity of conventional CLSA sense amplifier is 50mV and for body bias control sense amplifier is 35 mV.","PeriodicalId":185493,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Research Advancement","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125951791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In some specific occasions, very high security, dependability and usability of the system must be needed, such as in Aero-Space, military, railway, petroleum, chemical industry, electricity and some the important departments and computer control systems working under the abominable environments, Two pieces of the module of one pair of redundant systems carry out the same operation at the same time. When one piece of the module among them breaks down, the other can judge and switch over automatically to keep the system stable reliable and incessant working. Double Redundancy not only has higher dependability, but also has very high security, so it is very popular used in the controlled fields. This paper argues that redundancy in engineering, should be understood as a \"design paradigm' that frames regulatory assessments and interpretations of all complex technical systems, profoundly shaping decisions and judgments about modern technologies. It will further argue that the \"redundancy paradigm' used by regulators contains epistemic ambiguities that lead to imperfect predictions about the effects of redundancy in practice.","PeriodicalId":185493,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Research Advancement","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127516918","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
