Severe plastic deformation is a technology that has been used to obtain grain size into nano grade scale (≤100 nm). In this study, severely plastic deformation by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) was conducted in the annealed of aluminum magnesium alloy (Al-5052). Annealing was done leading to form precipitates in the alloy. The aim of this study is investigated mechanical properties of this alloy after severely plastic deformation by ECAP and the influent of precipitates that was formed into those properties. Various annealing processes were treated in the Al-5052 alloy at various temperatures of 150 °C-24h for sample A, 175 °C-24h for sample B and 200 °C-24 h for sample C. The route of ECAP was concerned on A route with 8 numerous of deformation pases. Several examinations were carried out to observe the influent of microstructures and mechanical properties that was obtained after ECAP, such as metallography by using optical microscopy and SEM (scanning electron microscope), Brinell hardness test, chemical analysis by SEM-EDS (scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectroscopy) and tensile test. Severely plastic deformations after annealing show that mechanical properties increase with increasing number of pas deformation in this alloy.
