In this study, we investigated on the possible efficacy of propolis (PS) on the sublingual gland tissues exposed to 6-mercaptopurine (6MR) in male rats. \u0000\u0000Materials and Methods: Twenty-eight Wistar albino rats were allocated to four groups: control (KON), PS, 6MR, 6MR+PS. At 12 days of trial, sublingual glands of all rats were immediately dissected and analysed using the stereological technique and histological examination. \u0000\u0000Results: Our findings revealed a significant increase in the total volume of stroma and significant decrease in the total volume of the total volumes of mucous acini, straited ducts, interlobular ducts, and intralobular ducts in the 6MR group than the KON group (p<0.05). A significant decrease was also found in the mucous cell number and the serous cell number in the 6MR group than the KON group (p<0.05). In the 6MR+PS group, we observed that the total volume of stroma, as well as the mucous cell number and the serous cell number were increased compared to the 6MR group (p<0.05). Besides, the total volumes of mucous acini, straited ducts, interlobular ducts, and intralobular ducts were significantly increased in the 6MR+PS group than the 6MR group (p<0.05). \u0000\u0000Conclusion: Our results showed that 6MR treatment caused toxicity in sublingual gland tissues, as well as PS application improved such changes in sublingual glands exposed to 6MR.

The twin-block appliance was used continuously (excluding meals) for 12 months. The appliance used in this research, which is a split-mouth study, was designed to cover the first premolar only on one side of the mandible, leaving the opposite the first premolar tooth exposed. After the extraction of the mandibular first premolars, two groups were formed: the teeth outside the appliance (Group I) and the teeth inside the appliance (Group II). Hardness measurements were calculated using Vicker’s microhardness measuring device on the buccal and lingual regions of the both groups. 200 g load was applied to specimens for 10 sec. Two Independent Sample t test used in the statistical analysis of the data. \u0000\u0000Results: A statistically significant difference was found between the hardness values of the buccal and lingual tooth regions of Group I and Group II (p <0.05). Group II showed statistically significantly lower hardness values on both tooth regions (buccal region and lingual region) than Group I. In both groups, the hardness values on the buccal regions of the teeth were found to be significantly lower than the hardness values on the lingual regions (p <0.05). \u0000\u0000Conclusion: There is a possibility of mineral loss in the teeth remaining inside the appliance in treatments using the twin-block appliance

This study investigated the effect of air-abrasion and erbium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Er:YAG) laser treatments on push-out bond strength (PBS) between hard relining material and metal housing of an overdenture attachment system.\u0000\u0000Material and Methods. A total of 36 metal housings were randomly divided into 3 subgroups according to surface pretreatments (n=12): Control (no surface treatment; C), air-abrasion (A), and Er:YAG laser (L). Surface roughness (Ra) of specimens was determined using a profilometer. One additional specimen per group was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The hard relining material was bonded to metal housings, and a PBS test was performed using a universal testing machine. Data were statistically analyzed using 1-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Tukey’s honestly significant difference (HSD), and Tamhane’s T2 tests (α=.05).\u0000\u0000Results. C and L groups showed the lowest and highest Ra values, respectively. The mean Ra of the A group was statistically different from the mean values of the C and L groups (P<.001). The L group showed higher PBS values than the C group (P<.05), whereas the A group exhibited statistically similar PBS values to both C and L groups (P>.05). \u0000\u0000Conclusions.
