The school curriculum which is run by teachers plays an important role in order to lead the pupils and make them able to apply the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in their studies. HOTS is an important aspect in teaching and learning methods that had been introduced for education purposes in Malaysia. Students with HOTS are able to learn, improve their performance and reduce their weaknesses in their studies. To be more concern about its application in daily learning at schools, especially in particular subject like History, HOTS is not well applied in primary school especially in rural areas. Thus, this paperwork is being conducted to observe the application of HOTS in daily learning and the ability of the pupils to cope with the system especially in primary schools in rural areas which most of the pupils are only from two different races, which are Dusun and Murut. This paperwork is also done as the suggestive methods to help the school and Ministry of Education in planning and preparing the methods that can be used for the application of HOTS in primary schools in rural areas particularly in learning of History subject.","PeriodicalId":179859,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT & MULTI-ETHNIC SOCIETY - ICOSH2 2019","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129807443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It evolves every single day. Technology has become a vital aspect of everyone’s life especially the youth. To keep up with the modernized world, youth attach themselves to smart phones, online games, social media and many others. Therefore, the modern technology is demanding the lecturers to use these technologies in their teaching. Likewise, employers are demanding for new employees to have sufficient soft skills in order to succeed on the job. Hence there is a crucial need for lecturers to use the technology to enhance their teaching of soft skills. The use of technology is seen to improve and further enhance students’ communication, collaboration, problem solving and time management skills. Technology also has the highest potential to increase access to education and improve its quality, especially now that we are geared up towards the 21st century learning. Lecturers should embrace positively the emergence of the use of technology so that they can reap the benefits of these latest and emerging technologies to make teaching and learning activities more interesting and meaningful to improve soft skills among students.","PeriodicalId":179859,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT & MULTI-ETHNIC SOCIETY - ICOSH2 2019","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129429189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
