Spontaneous recovery of phantom limb pain generally last many months or years. The pain gets chronic in most cases and impresses the life quality of the patient. Here we present four cases of PLP, treated with duloxetine.

Although the neocortex, particularly the frontal lobe; limbic system and cerebellum are the brain regions most vulnerable to the toxic effects of alcohol, neural correlates of neuropsychological deficits have not been studied directly. Methods: This voxel based morphometric (VBM) study examined the effect of duration and amount of alcohol exposure on gray matter (GM) volume and the relation between GM volumes and neuropsychological deficits in patients with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD).Results: Voxel-wise whole brain analysis showed extensive regional gray matter volume for AUD patients and GM volumes were inversely correlated to the amount of alcohol exposure. More importantly, there were statistically significant correlations between different indices of executive functioning and GM volumes. Conclusion: These results indicate that dose-dependent alcohol effect on prefrontostriatal and temporal circuitries...

Although case reports showed some significant relations, they have many methodological limitations such as co-medications or medical co-morbidities. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and severity of RLS in patients on antidepressant (AD) or antipsychotic (AP) monotherapy. \u0000Methods: One hundred and ninety-seven patients and 150 healthy controls were included in the study. RLS was diagnosed according to the International Restless Legs Syndrome Study Group (IRLSSG) criteria. The severity of RLS was evaluated according to IRLSSG rating scale. Participants diagnosed with RLS went under further neurological and psychiatric investigation for excluding secondary causes. \u0000Results: One hundred and twenty patients (60.9%) were on AD therapy, while 77 patients (39.1%) were on AP monotherapy. Thirty-two patients (16.2%) and seven controls (4.7%) were diagnosed with RLS according to IRLSSG criteria. The most frequent cause of RLS was quetiapine (28.5%) in the antipsychotic group and paroxetine (22.2%) in the antidepressant group. There was no statistically significant correlation between drug usage duration and RLS severity. \u0000Conclusion: AD or AP induced RLS is a common condition. ADs and APs should be considered as a cause for RLS when assesing RLS in psychiatric patients who are under treatment either of these medications.

As 14 participants discontinued the study 20 participants only were assessed again at the end of a month. The participants were applied The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA) test, Edinburgh Handedness Inventory, Finger Tapping Test (FTT), Adult Memory and Information Processing Battery (AMIPB) A and B, and simple reaction time tests (auditory and visual) in admission and were applied Finger Tapping Test (FTT), Adult Memory and Information Processing Battery (AMIPB), and simple reaction time tests (auditory and visual) at the end of a month. \u0000Results: There was no statistically significant difference between participants continue to the treatment and those discontinue in terms of sociodemographic and clinical characteristics. The participants discontinue were using more daily cannabis dose. The auditory reaction time of the group continue to the treatment decreased statistically significantly after a month whereas there was no statistically significant difference in the visual reaction time. The scores of the AMIPB-A and AMIPB-B were detected statistically higher after a month compared to admission. The score of the dominant hand FTT after a month was detected statistically higher than that in admission whereas there was no statistically significant difference in the non-dominant hand score. \u0000Conclusion: Improvements in scores of AMIP-A, AMIP-B, FTT and auditory reaction time after one month of quitting cannabis suggest that cannabis use may impair cognitive functions such as information processing, reaction time and motor functions. We suggest that future studies to assess cognitive functions after either a shorter (i.e. 1 week) or a longer (i.e. 2 months) period of cannabis abstinence in larger samples may provide further useful data about the relationship between cannabis use and cognitive functions.
