This paper aimed to report a clinical case of TRF at the cervical third of tooth 21 injured by recurrent DT with 7 years of follow-up. A 7-years old female patient was referred to dental care after the first episode of DT in 2014. Based on the radiographical examination, splinting of teeth 11 and 21 was performed using resin composite. After 11 months, the splint was removed and the patient was discharged. In 2015, the patient suffered a second DT of the same tooth. The clinical approach was splinting the traumatized tooth using orthodontic wire and resin composite. In 2018, a third episode of DT occurred. Then, the dental staff chose to maintain the splint and evaluate the case in a long-term. In 2021, based on bone tissue condition, dental fragment stability and radiographical follow-up, the splint was removed. The patient remains under regular follow up evaluations. It can be concluded that a conservative approach in cases of TRF, when possible, can preserve biological tissues.","PeriodicalId":177464,"journal":{"name":"International journal of odontostomatology","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131293279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

CBCT evaluation of unilateral accessory mental foramina: under reported anatomic variant in children.˚ Int. J. Odontostomat.,˚16(3) :441-446, 2022. ˚ ABSTRACT: The following manuscript presents two paediatric cases with incidental finding of unilateral accessory mental foramina. Both the cases illustrate CBCT evaluation of a unilateral accessory foramina on the left side of the mandible, one of which, is a 12-year-old baby girl with pre-diagnosed medical history of precocious puberty and oral findings of supernumerary teeth and the other is an 8-year-old boy with oral bifurcation cyst. The not so frequent presence of additional foramina and canals in the mandible are frequently undervalued in clinical procedures and to our knowledge has not yet been reported in paediatric cases in the literature so far. In these case reports, authors attempt to document a rare and first of its type ever reported anatomic variant of mandible in paediatric patients in the whole literature.","PeriodicalId":177464,"journal":{"name":"International journal of odontostomatology","volume":"9 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132570674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A retrospective observational study was carried out with the emergency care data from the Barros Luco Trudeau Hospital, incorporating the consultations resulting from findings in the oral mucosa. Data from 121 patients, 54 men and 67 women between 12 and 84 years old, average 45 years old, were evaluated. Suspicion of malignant tumors grouped 24,8 % of the sample, being the lesions in tissues adjacent to the hard palate the most frequent within this subgroup, followed by pictures of Stomatitis and Gingivitis (21.5 %), Granulomas (20.7 %) and Hyperplasias and Fibrosis (14.9 %). The most affected tissues were the gingival with 47 cases (38.9 %) and the palatal with 39 cases (32.2 %). Our results are consistent with what is expressed in the literature where, in the adult population, findings associated with chronic tissue damage tend to be identified, with constant low intensity mechanical stimuli and association with base pathologies, while in first and second patients In the decade, traumatic and virus-associated injuries are more frequent. It is critical that professionals know the most frequent injuries to identify in the population, knowing their etiology and proper management, along with having a continuous work network, monitoring the case throughout the diagnostic process.","PeriodicalId":177464,"journal":{"name":"International journal of odontostomatology","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133625575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The case of a 34 year old patient is reported, with no previous history, consulted for a right the mandibular angle and ramus swelling increasing in size, progressively hard, painless, cold, an orthopantomogram was performed in our patient completed by a facial CT scan in coronal and 3D axial sections. In view of our strong suspicion of aneurysmal cyst, we performed a fine needle puncture under general anesthesia before any operative gesture, which brought back a pure hematic liquid. We scheduled our patient for radical surgery: interrupting hemimandibulectomy of the horizontal branch at the right mandibular angle, with immediate reconstruction by maxiplate given the extent of the tumor. Aneurysmal bone cyst was described in 1940 by Ewing and individualized by Jaffe and Lichtenstein (1942) who gave it their names. Clinically, the painless facial swelling, predominantly mandibular, is the main symptom and responsible for facial asymmetry. The paraclinical examinations requested are mainly orthopantomogram and facial CT scan. The treatment of ABC is exclusively surgical, either conservative or radical. The positive diagnosis of aneurysmal cyst is brought by imaging and the confirmation is anatomopathological. Regular clinical and laboratory follow-up is required to detect any recurrence.
