Transient and small signal stability during perturbed conditions is of utmost importance for a power system engineer. Whenever there is a disturbance, the rotor angle oscillates and the speed of the machine deviates from the original nominal speed. The perturbation can be of various types. It could be a variation in the load, loss of a line or a unit or it could be the changes in the infinite bus voltage. During such cases, a Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) device can be introduced in order to improve the performance of the machine in terms of its speed variation. In this paper, a single machine infinite bus system (SMIB) is considered for studying the performance of a nonlinear Technique called Dynamic Inversion. It has been proved in this paper that speed of the machine can be maintained at synchronous speed through excitation control. In DI technique, zero error dynamics is enforced and the actual output is forced to follow the desired output. The terminal voltage of the infinite bus is assumed to be varying at certain intervals. The speed and the rotor angle are observed. The speed is forced to follow the desired value (synchronous speed) by using DI technique. The results obtained for the rotor angle and the angular frequency (speed) are found to be promising.","PeriodicalId":176197,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133272470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particularly North Europe, Germany, Spain, USA, Canada, China, and India have shown a strong achievement in expanding the wind energy systems. This has given a new dimension in the area of research pertaining to Power Electronics applications in Power Systems. This paper presents the effects of coordination between Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) and a Wind Farm Integrated into a Power System Network. A suitable test system is chosen for performing the analysis in order to characterize the performance of the entire power systems. The intent is to examine the efficacy of the STATCOM in providing the support during the Low Voltage Ride Through condition when a Wind Farm is integrated and aiding the Voltage Dips. Apart from this, the response of a STATCOM during a fault conditions are also analyzed. Further, a review of Sub synchronous Resonance in a Wind Farm using STATCOM is discussed. In addition to that, a theoretical description of PV interfaced with the same Voltage Source Inverter/STATCOM providing coordinated operations of Wind Farm are also discussed. The manifestation of the idea is carried out using MATLAB Simulink Software.","PeriodicalId":176197,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127552374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Eventually the data on the web is also increasing. Retrieval of useful information from such a big huge amount of data is a challenging issue. Many web information gathering systems are there which try to gather useful information from the bulks of data. The user profiles are created for this purpose which gives the user background knowledge description. The concept models are implicitly generated from the user background knowledge. The user background knowledge can be better discovered and represented if global and local analysis is integrated. An ontology is an important concept that can be used to represent the knowledge from the user profiles. This paper reviews few personalized models for web information gathering and compares them and a system based on personalization of web data using ontology is introduced. This personalized system will try to remove the limitations of already existing models for retrieval of web data.","PeriodicalId":176197,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC)","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115425183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents an easy and a robust sensor fault detection and isolation (FDI) of a single phase PWM rectifier for electric railway traction application. PR controller is used to regulate ac currents in single phase system, in order to obtain both zero magnitude and phase errors. Catenary current sensor and dc link voltage sensor failures of the single phase PWM rectifier are considered. In this paper, Fault detection and isolation methods are mainly depends upon the pole placement based observed values and threshold values. This method allows a good detection and isolation of the sensor fault. Simulation/MATLAB results are presented to show the effective performance of the fault detection and isolation of a single phase PWM rectifier.","PeriodicalId":176197,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115558852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed system consists of 12V battery, closed loop boost converter and 24V lamp load. The closed loop boost converter is used to boost the 12V input DC voltage to 24V DC output. To regulate the output of the converter, feedback voltage is given to dSPACE controller. Using control desk and MATLAB, voltage from dSPACE is amplified and compared with reference voltage which in turn generates PWM signal that controls the switching of IGBT. Initially simulation is carried out using PI controller in MATLAB. The experimental results for closed loop boost converter obtained in software and hardware are presented here and verified with theoretical results.","PeriodicalId":176197,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127479803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various applications would require better Quality of Service (QoS) from Grid Computing environment. Better Quality of Service may be achieved by proper resource allocation and reservation by scheduling heuristics. Major disadvantage of current scheduling heuristic is that they are not providing simultaneous access to resource. In order to solve this problem Advance Resource Reservation of resources can be used to achieve required Quality of Service and better resource utilization. In this paper effects of Advance Reservation Rate (ARR) and Advance Time Factor (ATF) on the performance parameters like Average Resource Utilization (ARU), Average Waiting Time (AWT), Average Slowdown Factor (ASF), Minimum Completion Time (MCT) and Success Rate of AR jobs (ARSR) have been studied for various scheduling heuristics and their performance have been measured in advance resource reservation environment. The performances of the non reserved resource environment have also been measured in same environment. All the scheduling heuristics have also been compared for same parameters individually.","PeriodicalId":176197,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133329260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
