Mapping of soil properties at certain interval could ensure sufficient provision of macronutrients for optimum agricultural produce. The use of drone with different imaging capabilities is fairly wide, overcoming time constraints and laborious laboratory analysis. The primary objective of this paper is to demonstrate the application of a standard camera drone to predict peat soil pH of pineapple crop. For the first time, prediction of soil pH is based on the square of Visible Atmospherically Resistant Index (VARI), and is then compared with laboratory-analysed soil pH. Correlation between the two parameters is favourable with R-squared value of about 51%, which compares well with the literature. A considerably large soil sampling may be considered for future study to obtain improved prediction irrespective of soil variability.","PeriodicalId":175668,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference on Computer and Drone Applications (IConDA)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127264764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various research has been carried out on detecting horizontal text, oriented text, curved text and vertical text. However, there are limited research carried out on detecting and recognizing vertical scene text. Vertical scene text can be differentiated into top-to-bottom vertical text, bottom-to-top vertical text and horizontal-stacked vertical text. Apart from detecting horizontal text and oriented text, the model proposed in this research detects all types of vertical scene text. In this paper, the modelling of a hybrid vertical scene texts recognition is proposed. The model contains Multidirectional Text Detector (MTD) for detecting text region in the scene image, Two-dimensional Decoder (2DD) for recognizing texts in the text region, while Vertical Oriented Network (VON) is applied to determine the types of vertical texts.","PeriodicalId":175668,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference on Computer and Drone Applications (IConDA)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125119849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Extensive research and development have been done for UAVs to operate in complex and unknown environments, especially in GPS-denied environments. Consideration of a wide range of factors needs to be observed in such environments. Control systems for the unmanned vehicles are required to integrate, not only the basic input-output control laws but also the high-level functionalities for perception, decision making and task scheduling. Software systems for unmanned vehicles are required to perform tasks from hardware driving to the management of device operations, and from traditional input-output control law implementation to sensing, task scheduling and event management. In this talk, in-depth research in the advanced autonomous systems on UAVs is presented, involving automate flight process in GPS-denied environments, such as below the forest canopy or indoor environments, in which a board range of sensing and navigation technologies have been used. The sensors and algorithms plan the drones' flight paths, make sense of where they are, and to ensure that they do not collide with obstacles. All these are done automatically with no human intervention. The proposed systems have been successfully tested in both simulations and real flight experiments. Several related applications of the autonomous systems on UAVs will also be presented.","PeriodicalId":175668,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference on Computer and Drone Applications (IConDA)","volume":"519 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123206296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this technology enhancement era, web-based complaint management system becomes more favored and therefore, it becomes more effective and efficient to manage the complaints received, especially for the service-oriented organizations or business operators that are profit-oriented. Up to date, little literature could be found with regards to community welfare and public health complaint systems developed for the non-profit-oriented organizations or companies, especially as an intervention to combat tobacco use at public or work places. This study aims to fill in the gap by designing and developing a web-based smoking complaint management system as an innovative initiative to support the Blue Ribbon Campaign initiated by the World Health Organization, to fight the tobacco epidemics within the context of Malaysia. A framework for this web-based smoking complaint management system is proposed. This study employs the iterative waterfall model that incorporates the adapted human-centered agile work flow. The interface design and the development of the system are described. Limitation and recommendations for future works are also presented.","PeriodicalId":175668,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference on Computer and Drone Applications (IConDA)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130398219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can perform autonomous flight missions without the interference of a human pilot. It is observed that autonomous aerial vehicles play major roles in certain tasks such as reconnaissance for search and rescue, environment monitoring, and security surveillance. Their mobility and sensing capabilities make them an ideal platform for exploration and monitoring tasks. The challenge is that they need to deal with various situations such as unexpected obstacles, collision and device failures. In this workshop, we aim to report some recent research and development in unmanned aerial systems technologies. Emphases are placed on mission management, motion planning and perception technologies that are capable of autonomously guiding, navigating and controlling unmanned systems in cluttered and GPS-denied environments. We will present the development of accurate flight dynamics models, which can assist flight control law design efficiently in terms of parameter tuning and performance evaluation. Based on the identified models, the model analysis and control design technologies will be introduced. To solve the challenges in unknown environments, we will also present the motion planning technologies for small-size rotorcraft, which can formulate an optimization problem by employing several approaches. Task planning involving logical and temporal constraints will also be covered in this workshop.","PeriodicalId":175668,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference on Computer and Drone Applications (IConDA)","volume":"120-121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124012113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
