We applied this method to the analysis of lightning strike surge current waveforms. Such waveforms produce highly nonlinear transient time series, and we have revealed their nonlinear characteristics. The relaxation process of these waveforms begins with an oscillating region with an extremely large decay rate, and is followed by a non-oscillating region with a nonlinearly increasing decay rate.","PeriodicalId":174315,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 18th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Applications (CSPA)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114092299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, most design approaches still rely on a prototypic filter implementation and a subsequent measurement-based validation. This paper discusses a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) based approach for analog signal processing elements, based on circuit modelling and simulation and the integration of an adequate hardware interface. The adequacy of the novel approach is evaluated for a weighing application based on strain gauges and provides a proof of the suggested procedure. The achieved results based on a case study for weighing systems shows the adequacy of the approach for real sensor applications.","PeriodicalId":174315,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 18th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Applications (CSPA)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127749994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It requires collective effort from the project team ensuring customer requirements are met, contract fulfilment and Service-Level-Agreement compliance. Most importantly, the SQAP will be used as the quality manual (QM) by the organisation to improve business’s operations, protect its reputation, accelerate change and meet customer needs. Any mis-conduct of SQAP will weaken customer relationship, damage in brand and reputation, major increased in both operational and financial costs; which further jeopardize the organization’s competitiveness and confidence level in the IT industry. As such, setting vital and critical checkpoints throughout different phases of project life cycle (PLC) and system development life cycle (SDLC) indeed is a crucial factor to successful implementation of SQAP. However, there are times a project manager and/or software quality assurance managers only place emphasis on the development scope of works but overlooked overall activities in the entire project life cycle. As a result, the setting of checkpoints in the SQAP has neglected to benchmark against the adopted standards resulting more than a set of SQAP within the organization. This has created unnecessary stress and burden to the project team when everyone is striving to implement all procedures and processes correctly within the constraint of allocated duration and timeline. This paper aims to outline a set of checkpoints throughout the PLC and SDLC to provide assistance and benchmarking for the IT industry implementing software project management as formal software process initiatives within the organization.","PeriodicalId":174315,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 18th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Applications (CSPA)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132803388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, some defects, especially those located at the edge of the region of interest (ROI) were missed. In this paper, the ROI was widened by stitching two sequential images together using Laplacian pyramids. Genetic algorithm was then used to enhance the important features of the defects using the best fitness value, parent mating, crossover and mutation. The algorithm was able to reduce the effect of uneven-illumination by repeating regeneration. The resultant image was converted into binary for defect identification, and localized according to its contour. Experimental results showed 90.5% accuracy.","PeriodicalId":174315,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 18th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Applications (CSPA)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115558614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Breast cancer is a common disease among women throughout the world. The medical images and especially Breast Ultrasound (BUS) images are of poor quality, low contrast, and ambiguous. To avoid misdiagnosis, a Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) system has been created for the diagnosis of breast cancer. This study discusses a variety of ultrasonic image segmentation approaches, with an emphasis on several methods developed in the recent four years. As a result, breast ultrasound image segmentation remains a difficult and demanding problem because of several ultrasound aberrations, including strong speckle noise, preprocessing, classification, feature extraction, and segmentation technique to find the accuracy. Lastly, this study outlines the current trends and issues in breast ultrasound images diagnosis, segmentation, and classifications. This review may be useful for both clinicians and researchers who utilize CAD systems for early breast cancer detection.","PeriodicalId":174315,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 18th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Applications (CSPA)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114669277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the scope of this research, the compounds of agarwood essential oil were obtained from FRIM and BARCE (UMP). The 103 compounds data is pre-processed through a pre-processing technique known as principal component analysis (PCA) and Pearson’s correlation. It was found that three compounds were significant and they were high quality; β-agarofuran, α-agarofuran, and 10-epi-ϒ-eudesmol. The significant compounds were continued to be fed into ANN as input data meanwhile the output data categorized as low and high quality of the agarwood essential oil. The Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCG) was employed as the default classifier algorithm during network training. Three layers of ANN architecture were used and 1 to 10 hidden neurons were varied in a hidden layer. The performance of the ANN was measured using the mean squared error (MSE), epochs and their execution time and the confusion matrix. The work was performed using Matlab R2017a. The finding shows that SCG-ANN successfully classified agarwood essential oil with the best performance at 3 hidden neurons. This research is significant for future work, especially on the classification of the agarwood essential oil field.","PeriodicalId":174315,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 18th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Applications (CSPA)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132505062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Technotemp wrist a/c controller is considered to be the name of the system. When the user’s body temperature falls within a temperature range, the device automatically changes the Air conditioning temperature. This study shows that the involvement of clothing insulation can have a greater impact on body temperature. Also, raising the intensity of an individual’s activity level will further increase their body temperature over time. This study will determine the appropriate A/C thermostat with the body temperature by using the CBE (Center for the Built Environment) Thermal Comfort tool. It will calculate thermal comfort according to EN-16798 Standard, thermal comfort, Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) and Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied (PPD). Besides clothing insulation and metabolic rate (MET), the needed inputs with this tool are air velocity, relative humidity, mean radiant temperature, and air temperature. Among the 30 test subjects, it was found that the thermal comfort body temperature of the user ranges between 35.01-36.03°C. For the system’s accuracy and efficacy, it will be measured by using subjective and objective methods with a new set of 15 test subjects. For the subjective method, users will be asked every 3 minutes to assess their thermal environment in terms of thermal sensation. The objective method will be measured through their stress levels using the Huawei GT2e smartwatch. It was observed that these methods gained an accuracy of 96.67%. The system’s effectiveness will be evaluated by comparing our proposed automatic controller setup with the traditional way controller. It was found that the automatic controller is faster to reach thermal comfort for about 37-37.2 minutes while 48.2-49 minutes for the traditional setup, having an effectiveness rate of 93.33%.","PeriodicalId":174315,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 18th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Applications (CSPA)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131625614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The phase-frequency detector (PFD) is one of the main blocks in ADPLL and it is capable to detect the presence of phase and frequency errors by recognizing two input signals in digital form. The full-ranged of a time-to-digital converter (TDC) is commonly used in PFD block, but the power consumption is high. In this work, the less-TDC will be designed in the digital PFD block as an early development stage design for the ultra-low power ADPLL in order to improve fast phase-frequency acquisition and reduce power consumption. The digital PFD is designed by using Matlab Simulink and Verilog Hardware Description Language (HDL) code. The simulation result obtained that the time difference of the input signals for the Verilog is smaller than the result in Matlab Simulink without a unit delay. Thus, the design of the digital PFD will lead the desired ADPLL to achieve ultra-low power and fast locking range for RFID application.","PeriodicalId":174315,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 18th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Applications (CSPA)","volume":"23 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131672946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
