Demographical and clinical data and various skin lesions (skin malformations, benign, premalignant, and malignant tumors) were recorded and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 21 based on a significance level < .05.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 The findings indicated an age-dependent increase in the prevalence of skin lesions. Females had a higher frequency of benign tumors, whereas males represented a higher rate of malignant tumors. About 53%, 6.8%, and 40.1% of skin lesions were benign, premalignant, and malignant tumors, respectively. Among detected tumors, seborrheic keratosis, actinic keratosis, and basal cell carcinoma were the most prevalent as benign, premalignant, and malignant tumors, respectively. The high level of diagnostic accuracy among clinical and histopathological findings illustrated a significant agreement (p < .05).\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 Our findings showed that malignant skin tumors were more prevalent in males and in patients with an upper age, which suggests more consideration for better preventive policies in these populations.\u0000

Whereas many therapeutics are entirely new, some medications, such as oral minoxidil, have been available for years and are just now being revisited as potentially valuable hair loss treatments. This article discusses the risks, benefits, and potential side effects of the off-label use of low-dose oral minoxidil. It compares low-dose oral minoxidil with topical minoxidil, a well-established and FDA-approved treatment for androgenetic alopecia, but one that is often associated with poor overall adherence. Finally, nursing considerations in the education and care of patients with alopecia disorders and associated medications are discussed.

It is a beneficial screening tool for high-risk patients to have a history of melanoma or dysplastic nevi. According to the American Cancer Society, melanoma cases are increasing each year. Melanoma is one of the most aggressive skin cancers in the United States and is the fifth most common cancer cause in both men and women. Prompt diagnosis is critical to reducing the morbidity and mortality caused by melanoma. Survival outcomes worsen with increasing tumor thickness, and thicker melanomas require more invasive and intensive treatment. However, if detected early, the 10-year survival rate of patients with thin melanomas is almost 98%, compared with as low as 48% in thick melanomas. Three-dimensional total body photography along with education provided by dermatology nurses on how this system aids in the identification of new and changing nevi is vital in the prevention of melanoma. As a Dermatology nurse, one of the most crucial roles is educating patients with evidence-based knowledge. This includes following a distinct schedule of follow up appointments to monitor moles, using sunscreen, avoiding excessive sun exposure, encouraging self-skin examinations, and ensuring patients maintain their follow-up appointments. These measures can help to prevent Melanoma.

Most commonly, the disease affects the elderly population but has been seen in all ages. Presentations of MF include erythematous patches and plaques with fine scale anatomically favoring the buttocks, trunk, and extremities with complaints of significant pruritus. MF can mimic other benign inflammatory diseases such as atopic dermatitis or psoriasis. Skin biopsy of the rash for simple histology and immunophenotyping will aid in the differentiation from other diseases and confirm accurate diagnosis. Repeat biopsy is often required. A wide range of treatment options exist based on the extent of the disease and patient compliance. The prognosis is good with early detection and treatment. No cure currently exists for the disease, but a deeper understanding of triggers can guide prevention techniques and help develop targeted treatment modalities.

Mollusca are characterized by a firm, dome-shaped, flesh-colored, pearly papule with a white, umbilicated center. Generally, lesions occur in clusters and range in size from 1 to 5 millimeters. Although unusual and infrequent, MC occurring in an epidermal inclusion cyst has been reported.\u0000 This case involves an 83-year-old woman with a flesh-colored, slightly tender papule on the right lower vermillion border, which had been enlarging over several months. Histopathology showed prominent molluscum bodies present in the adjacent epidermis and focally lining the central epidermal cyst.\u0000 The findings observed in this case support the hypothesized pathophysiological co-inoculation theory for the development of molluscum-infected epidermal inclusion cysts. This is clinically significant given the infectivity of cyst contents and the potential for direct inoculation of the cyst. Given its rarity, treatment protocols for epidermal inclusion cysts containing MC have not been established. However, management requires care to avoid viral transmission.

This review will focus primarily on vulvar LS. Although LS can affect men and prepubescent patients, LS has a much higher incidence in women over the age of 30 years. When correctly diagnosed and treated in its earlier stages, LS, although still chronic, is manageable with the appropriate protocol. When left untreated or poorly managed, LS can progress to its later “atrophic” stages and cause severe lichenification, atrophy, and destructive scarring, resulting in the loss of normal anatomic landmarks and function of the genitals. In addition, both men and women with genital LS have an increased risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma in the affected skin. In women, 65% of genital squamous cell carcinomas arise from a preexisting lesion from LS. This can negatively affect a patient's sleep and physical, mental, and social/emotional health. Increased awareness of the presentation and symptoms, in both providers and patients, of LS et atrophicus encourages earlier treatment and management while preventing long-term, irreversible physical, mental, and emotional damage.
