However most network layer simulators don't scale to the number of nodes needed for analyzing large overlays, and most overlay simulators don't have multicast routing models needed for analyzing hybrid approaches. In this work we have extended the OverSim simulator and INET framework which run on OMNET++ to include a multidestination multicast routing protocol (XCAST). Two major steps: 1. Progressive pixel differential transformation (PPDT) in which difference values of pixels are compressed and transmitted in a new systematic way for progressive rate adaptation. 2. Progressive pixel dropping (PPDP) in which pixels at different positions are evenly dropped in a new systematic way for progressive rate adaptation if the data rate is still too high to fit into the available channel bandwidth after the first step. Previously proposed iPTT mechanisms use a cluster-based super node for call determination. However, a hierarchical structure that uses clusters introduces unnecessary signaling costs, while an ad hoc network is vulnerable to energy consumption. To solve these challenges, this paper proposes a proxy-based energy efficient peer-to-peer push-to-talk (ePTT) service mechanism for ad-hoc networks. We propose an effective DSA scheme that allows an unlicensed system to statistically and opportunistically access the whole spectrum bandwidth during the last consecutive symbols of each primary OFDMA subframe. There is a tradeoff in gaining high normalized throughput by enlarging the access duration in each subframe and keeping low interference caused to the primary system by shorten the access period. Then, we model that tradeoff by deriving the optimization problem that maximizes the normalized throughput of the unlicensed system while guaranteeing the harmful interference constraints set by the primary system. Therefore, the opportunities to receive multicast streaming over WLAN are expected to grow. However, because of restrictions on the IEEE 802.11 standard, the transmission rate and the reliability of multicast over WLAN are lower than those of unicast. In this paper, we propose a transparent multicast / unicast translation method which translates a multicast packet into multiple unicast packets at the media access control (MAC) layer, so that we can utilize the higher transmission rates and retransmission function that are only available with unicast. The huge growth in the size of video content has broken the traditional multi-media index hosting and look-up solutions, these are not able to scale to the size of the current and projected index requirements. Distributed LSH (D-LSH) addresses this need of a highly scalable multi-media index.
