Despite advances made in the fields of human-robot interaction, information systems, and marketing, there is relatively little known about how to apply a service robot in retailing. In this paper we aim to shed light on this issue by exploring the added value, roles, and prototyping of a service robot in fashion retailing. Using two Dutch fashion stores as real-life settings, we apply different interaction techniques (observation, interview, survey, structured role play, prototyping) to generate first insights and obtain lessons learned. The results of our study suggest that fashion retailers would benefit most from using service robots for communication of promotions and provision of product information. When applying service robots to these use cases, customers seem to prefer briefly and clearly expressed information that is communicated in a style that matches (in-) store communications. In The Lives of Animals by J.M. Coetzee, the character Elizabeth Costello challenges Thomas Nagel’s assertion that human beings will never be able to know what it is like to be another kind of animal because our imagination is limited by our own experience. Costello, an aging fiction writer, counters that there are no bounds to the sympathetic imagination and insists that if we are able to imagine the experience of fictional characters, we can imagine the experience of nonhuman animals. For Costello, literature teaches empathy. Most characters in Coetzee’s fiction, however, resist all attempts of identification and what they stage is rather the failure of the project of the sympathetic imagination. Fiction being an effective and popular literary genre voices the social consciousness and social situation and thus it becomes a handy tool of social criticism. Indian literature spans a rich variety of themes and issues of considerable interest. Many novelists writing in English has contributed to its growth and enrichment of Indian literature leading to occupy a place of admiration in the world literature. Winner of the Sahitya Academy Award and a number of coveted national and international prizes, Desai occupies a well established position in the canon of contemporary Indian English writing. The masterpiece, Fire on the Mountain is a marvellous one which beautifully illustrates the intricacies of human relationship. The protagonist, Nanda Kaul is a victim of husband’s humiliation and negligence. The novel ends with an utter despairing note that Nanda Kaul’s struggle from self adjustment to self alienation seems to be bizarre futile and meaningless. The paper seeks to examine the victimized self of women and her quest for identity by subverting the constructed norms of patriarchal society. Many Researchers applied LSS in industries like oilfield, food, ores, foundry clusters, etc. Also, it is used in Services, e.g., to improve quality of performance and increase market share. These services are, e.g., hospitals, educational institutes, healthcare. LSS tools used in both application types may be similar, but the results gained differ quantitively and qualitatively. This paper shows different types of applications used LSS and the tools used, whether in industries or services, and the results reached in each due to the usage of various tools. A case study was held in one of the sugar companies in Egypt, showing the impact of this method and its tools to improve such an industry.
