Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT), finger exercises, and vaginal dilators were used. Symptom Checklist-90 Revised, Martial Adjustment Inventory, Female Sexual Function Index and Golombok-Rust Index for Sexual Satisfaction were applied pre-and post-treatment. Twenty-three patients were enrolled. All patients achieved sexual intercourse at the end of the treatment. After treatment, the results improved in the SCL-90 R test and sexual function indexes Marriage adjustment scores did not improve. With vaginismus, improvement in psychological scores emphasizes the importance of sexual therapy in couples having sexual dysfunctions.","PeriodicalId":17171,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy","volume":"49 4","pages":"412-419"},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"9418371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of psychoeducation vs. acceptance and commitment therapy to improve sexual pleasure according to the predictive role of physical, cognitive and emotional factors. Results of 139 Hispanic women (Mexico and Spain) diagnosed with breast cancer reveal that only the emotional factor of depression predicts decreased sexual pleasure. Although women who participated in the psychoeducation program presented greater physical symptomatology, body image distortions and emotional distress, the results seem to indicate that psychoeducational guidelines are relevant to improve sexual pleasure in those women who manifest higher levels of previous depression. By convenience sampling, 71 sexually active male survivors of hematological malignancy who underwent AHSCT were recruited, as well as 74 healthy men. A questionnaire with demographic and clinical data and the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) were completed. Survivors had a median age of 47 years, a median time since transplant of 3 years, and 46.5% had Hodgkin lymphoma. Based on the IIEF, they had a high level of sexual function, with best functioning domain \"erection\" and worst \"overall satisfaction\". Healthy men had statistically significantly higher scores in all domains of the IIEF, except for \"orgasm\" (p = 0.205). There was a statistically significant association between sexual function and age (p < 0.0005), years since transplantation (p = 0.006), functional status (p < 0.0005), having children (p < 0.0005), relationship status (p = 0.001), education (p < 0.0005), diagnosis (p < 0.0005) and disease relapse (p = 0.017). Multivariate analysis showed that only age was a strong prognostic factor of sexual function (p < 0.0005). After age was excluded from the model, because of the strong effect it had on the dependent variable, functional status (p = 0.015), education (p = 0.002) and diagnosis (p = 0.001) had a statistically significant association with sexual function. These findings indicate the importance of sexual function for survivors' well-being and the need for implementation of integrated care plans for survivors of hematological malignancy.</p>","PeriodicalId":17171,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy","volume":"49 6","pages":"630-642"},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"9881222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study we examined the moderating role of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and sexual-related posttraumatic stress symptoms (sexual-related PTSS) between CSA and relationship satisfaction. Survey data from 529 individuals who reported being currently in a romantic relationship were analyzed. In the first set of analyses, results demonstrated that participants with CSA reported significantly lower relationship satisfaction and significantly greater severity of PTSD and sexual-related PTSS than participants without CSA. Sexual-related PTSS but not PTSD moderated the association between CSA and participants' relationship satisfaction, with the model of sexual-related PTSS explaining 20.8% of the variance in relationship satisfaction and the model of PTSD explaining 11.3% of this variance. In the second set of analyses conducted among survivors of CSA only, higher sexual-related PTSS severity was linked with ongoing abuse and with abuse by a non-family member. Women who were sexually inactive or had some psychological, psychiatric, or endocrine diseases were excluded from the analysis. Results above 3000 points indicate higher physical activity in woman. There were statistically significant differences in lubrication, orgasm, pain, satisfaction, and total score of FSFI. A positive correlation was revealed between results in total FSFI score and MET-min/week score (Rs = 0.18, <i>p</i> = 0.016).
