In this study, we sought to identify different multidimensional patterns of pornography genre preferences among a sample of women (n = 206) and examine how those patterns are differentially associated with sexual experiences and beliefs examined in previous literature. Latent Class Analysis uncovered four patterns (or classes): Heterogeneous (39%), Traditionally Feminine (27%), Female Pleasure (23%) and Rough/violent (11%). Class membership was differentially predicted by prior sexual victimization, sexual esteem, and diverse sexual experiences while controlling for frequency of use. These findings suggest that genre preference could account for much of the mixed findings of prior work that measured pornography use with unidimensional approaches.
","PeriodicalId":17171,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10404303/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"10033448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three online studies were conducted with independent samples collected between September 2020 and March 2022. Study 1 tested the exploratory factorial structure (N = 325; 206 women); Study 2 explored the confirmatory factorial structure and construct validity (N = 450; 230 women); and Study 3 examined the temporal stability of the TSMQ-PT (N = 30; 15 women). Participants completed the TSMQ-PT for all three studies. In study 2, further completed the Sexual Compulsivity Scale, the Sexual Sensation Seeking Scale, and the Sexual Desire Inventory. Data revealed that the TSMQ-PT yielded a four-structure model, (i.e., Sexually Oriented, Comparison with Others, Seeking for Sexual Encounters, and Importance of Sex) comprising 13 items, with seven additional items for assessing existence and number of sexual partners, and frequency of sexual behaviors. The TSMQ-PT achieved good internal consistency levels (McDonald's omega ranged from .71 to .89) and construct validity, and temporal stability over 10-11 months (values ranged from .80 to .87) supporting the trait-dimension of sexual motivation. This systematic review and meta-analysis were performed on research articles reporting women with LSD and HSDD in PsycArticles, Scopus, MEDLINE, Web of Science databases, and reference lists till October 2021. All cross-sectional studies published in English that assessed both sexual desire and sexual distress were included. Of 891 full-text articles identified, 24 were eligible, all of which had a low risk of overall bias. We did separate random-effects meta-analyses for LSD and HSDD outcomes. The incidence of LSD and HSDD were 29% and 12%, respectively. Studies that used the convenience sampling method reported a higher incidence of HSDD than studies that used the probability sampling method. No differences were found between the assessment method and across cultures in LSD and HSDD. A majority of studies reviewed addressed demographic (e.g. age, education), physiological (e. g. menopausal status, body mass index), psychological (e.g. depression, daily internal stress), relational (e.g. relationship length, relationship satisfaction), and sexual predictors (e.g. sexual activity, sexual pleasure) between LSD and HSDD. It was a first attempt in research to examine the role of disordered eating attitudes in pregnancy, using the Arabic version of the Disordered Eating Attitudes in Pregnancy Scale. The pre/post comparison in terms of sexual functioning was based on the women's recall, using the Pregnancy Sexual Response Inventory. According to the pregnant persons perceptions of their sexual functioning before and during pregnancy, 66.1% of the participants reported a lower frequency of sexual activity during pregnancy, 52.7% lower sexual desire, and 47.3% dyspareunia; 33% were sexually satisfied contrasted to 70% before pregnancy. Pregnancy was significantly associated with lower sexual outcomes compared to before. Higher anxiety and more disordered eating attitudes during pregnancy were significantly associated with lower sexuality composite scores. Our study accentuates the need for rigorous medical guidance on sexual activity during pregnancy and highlights dysfunctional eating behaviors and anxiety disorders as pejorative predictors of the sexual response among pregnant women. It thus sustains the hypothesis that mental health disorders pertain to the pathogenesis of sexual problems and should therefore be targeted in sexual health promotion during prenatal care.
","PeriodicalId":17171,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"9696242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was conducted with 184 women. Number, mean, percentage distribution, and ANOVA tests were used to evaluate the data. The total mean score of the FSFI was determined to be 18.03 ± 4.17. When examining the mean scores of the sexual function index in terms of sex position, a statistically significant difference was found between both the FSFI total score and its subscales and all positions (p = 0.00). It was observed that based on the scores of the FSFI, the women had a form of sexual dysfunction and had higher mean scores in Desire, Arousal, Lubrication, Orgasm, and Satisfaction in the overall scale of female-on-top positions, and their mean scores for pain subscale were lower.
","PeriodicalId":17171,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"10526903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various researchers and clinicians have worked to integrate the two worlds by offering strategies for integrating sex therapy interventions into couple therapy, either by providing just the information necessary to address the sexual difficulty or by articulating how to utilize a sex therapy intervention within a specific couple therapy modality. However, limited literature exists that truly integrates sex therapy with specific couple therapies, actively accounting for the theoretical lenses held by both. This paper explores the conceptual fit between Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT; Christensen, Doss, & Jacobson, Integrative behavioral couple therapy: A therapist's guide to creating acceptance and change. Norton Professional Books, 2020) and modern sex therapy. To highlight this fit, we first review IBCT's theory, process, and primary interventions and then summarize the current trends in the field of sex therapy. We outline the conceptual fit between IBCT and modern sex therapy, then provide a pragmatic model for how a therapist might integrate the two in practice, highlighted with a case example.
","PeriodicalId":17171,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"9944600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
